Does CCP actually understand how frustrating the skill system is? You play for a full day only to find you've made 100,000 SP. A full day.
And then you have spend it all on a skill that does nothing but unlock the skill you actually want to get. This last point is the most frustrating in my opinion. I see no reason why we couldn't have just kept Weaponry's ability to unlock damage modifiers. It made it seem like I wasn't wasting anything.
So, my fellow dust bunnies. What do you think? |

it's a game for grinding, that's for sure. It also encourages you to buy boosters for this very reason.
Certainly not noob friendly, or a good way to get casuals into a game. Imagine people have to start with 500k SP? LOOOOL
CCP should raise this to a couple million SP... seriously.
Beta vets are 10 mil+ easy. Some might be pushing 14-15 mil at this point. |

No it doesnt. It is sp that is given outside of the weekly cap. It's a 50% bonus on whatever you make, cap or not. It doesn't make the cap higher nor does it make you reach cap quicker.

One thing that annoys me currently is I'm starting to make several of my core skills to ADV (rank 3). I now spend a whole week of SP to get enough to rank 1 of them from 3 to 4. I probably have a dozen of them.
Slowly forgetting to spend my sp to unlock something due to the long grind process.
I wish CCP would change the skill point reward system into an experience system where actions would accumulate points for that specific skill. Using AR would improve AR skills and hacking objectives/vehicles would improve hacking speed skill and etc. But I doubt they'll consider deviating from EVE's way of doing things. |

Well actually, it does raise your cap. But as it raises it of 50% AND gives you 50% more SP for each game, then in the end, you cap just as quick as you'd do without the booster. But once you capped, you got 50% more SP overall than the no booster dude.
Regarding SP income rate, yes it can feel a bit slow. And gives a grind feeling. Community has been asking for a rollover cap for a long time now. Something that would make newcomers able to grind way faster than old players. And would allow dudes missing a week or two to not feel like they lost SP on the way.
No news about this system atm. But it's mainly because there are many stuff that needs fixing and feel much more critical. |

Grinding games, are the worst kind. There is no fun in repeating the exact same thing over and over and over and over and over until you are about to get just ONE thing.
I don't play for the grinding though.

Freemiums are grind games by definition. They need to keep you on the hook to bait you into paying them for content you would normally get in a store-price game.
Freemium models are a disease, among a few. I'm not a part of the 'it's free' crowd. If you're going to make a game, make it a game worth paying for, and people who support good games will support you if a good game is to be found.
Games like Dust just give you a small box to play in, and the air isn't part of the free package. I've given CCP what I thought the game was worth, bought some passive boosters, and that is and will be the end of it. |

Rollover helps those who are not reaching the cap each week but does not assist those who do particularly new players who are more likely to play heavily at the beginning when everything is shiny and new. The rollover will mainly help those who have a busy real life or vets who are playing less and less at the moment.

No CCP don't realise its ****** they think everything is fine because there loyal beta testers with 8 or so mill SP dont realy care about new players and there progression in the game
In fact CCP even changed the skill tree at one point so that players would have to train the same skill multiple times just use another weapon of EQUAL meta level |

The rollover will mainly help those who have a busy real life or vets who are playing less and less at the moment.
You took the words right outa my mouth, what exactly is CCP and the CPM smoking
Ive noticed allot lemmings all over these forums and its becoming clearer to me how this game ended up in such disarray

I love this game - but there is nothing that makes me not want to play it more than the necessary grinding. EVE I understand. But the Devs have stated that they want DUST to appeal to the casual gamer, and that is anything but an EVE player. You can make it the thinking man's shooter without having to have them play 24/7 in order to get that proto gear they've wanted in a month.
As for boosters, not all of us want to spend money unless absolutely necessary. I love the idea that despite DUST's potential, you can do so much for no buck. I also play EVE however, so I'm not completely guilty of playing the miser. |
