I think there Should be respecs and here's why: 1- Replayability, obviously from the forums alone you can tell this game is getting stale, not to mention the plummeting player count. Repsecs would spice up the game and not make you feel like you're bound in chains. Also if you made a screw up then you could reverse it at a cost... 2- In my opinion respecs could cost circa 10-20k ISK. Or maybe monthly respecs or half a year respecs... whatever 3- We all know if everyone got respecs right now that about 60% of the players would hop on the Caldari Logi train and be happy campers with their superskillful scrambler rifle. Seriously everyone complains that everyone would have the best weapons and suits. I agree but this could be beneficial; if we had more people 'experimenting' or whatever word you would like to use for: FINDING THE OP SH*T. Essentially it would allow CCP to iron out the bads faster.
These are just a few reasons that I could think of ATM Feel free to leave constructive criticism of your opinions on respecs. |

After a point the respect would be unnecessary, there is never going to be a SP cap where you will stop getting SP. If you want to try other stuff save up for a little (stop trying to get full proto) and get wider. Also it should never be something you can buy, if it is then it would become abused ( personal ISK transfers are coming in 1.2) |

By the time you get respecs, you should have the SP to buy whatever it was you wanted to get instead.
You DID remember to buy Aurum, right? You know, that stuff the game reminds you to buy (Aurum) so that you can get more SP to buy the stuff you want instead of respec'ing?
I'll just say it again, Aurum. For good measure, Aurum.
On behalf of CCP: Do remember to buy Aurum. Also, do remember to listen to the reminders on the MCC about buying Aurum. And look at your TV, the Aurum ads are feeling neglected.
Fundamental of all Freemium games: They have to be unsatisfactory at some basic level, where paying for items on the cash shop is a reprieve that is worth paying for. People will accept almost any level of unsatisfactory content, as long as that content is free. Those seeking to remedy their experience will be more than happy to pay $150 for a monocle. |

No more respecs.
I could write an essay, if you want but respecs are a bad idea. i'll give a couple reasons.
1. It would make the nerf/buff cycle much much worse. one thing gets changed, everybody respecs to the next thing until that gets nerfed. it'll kill any variance you see in weapons
2. everything comes full circle. the weapon thats weak now might become the next big thing after a patch, or there could be a weapon/equipment/mod that changes the balance of the game and there you go - your "wasted" skillpoints are now the biggest thing ever.
3. any purchasable respec is the worst ******* idea ever. I don't mean to sound hostile, but a purchasable reset is a really terrible idea. If it's done with ISK then the people with loads of money will always have all 13+ million SP perfectly optimized for their favorite fit. then when a change happens they can use their money to keep the edge at all times.
if its done with aur then the game becomes 'pay to win' for the same reasons.
no more respecs. ever. learn to live with your mistakes.

As long as there are still major game components, such as missing dropsuits, equipment, and vehicles, I think we should keep getting occasional respecs. Once those are in place, if more weapons, turrets, or niche suits/vehicles are added, there shouldn't be further respecs. Once all the core game components are in place, anything new added is fair game. Granted it may take a couple years to get the core components down, the proposal seems reasonable. |

by the time the new dropsuits and whatnot are added we'll have enough SP to just spec into it. It'd be a better PR move to just cut people off now than let people get used to the occasional respec and then cut them off. This game will never be 'done'., so in a month, six months or a year we will always be in the same boat.
If they mess around with a skill too much they should refund it, but aside from CCP making a major change to the game there should be no more respecs or refunds.
Just adding new weapons or suits isnt enough of a reason to refund IMO.
a case could be made for a refund once all the racial frames are in, I must admit as those could be rather game changing, but I don't think its entirely needed.
In any case CCP has stated that they can't (not wont, keep in mind the language used) do any more respecs so be careful with your SP.
So heed this warning well - don't go proto or any higher than basic frame level 3 until you are absolutely sure you want to specialize into that role. there are plenty of core skills (fitting/ tank) for you to spend your SP on for now. |

People are so spoiled with their proto gear...
If you want to try something new, then train it up to level one. Trying something new doesn't mean you need to go proto in order to try it, and I really can't think of any role aside from vehicles that requires a total respec to get into. You want to try Mass Drivers? Then train Mass Driver Operation to level 1, its like what...30k? You can get that in like a day. |

Agreed; the game will never be done and just adding new weapons and suits isn't enough for a refund.
I do agree that once all the racial frames come in, that should be one of the last respecs. However, I also think that there should be at least two roles per frame and that the last respec should be when all the frames (with at least two roles per size) and all the racial vehicles are available. After that, I would not advocate more respecs; rather, at best, I'd be ok with a small, free sp buffer with major new stuff after the core. That being said, even a free sp buff is still pushing it. |

You can do this now. Buy some boosters, and build your SP back up.
Dust is meant to be a game with permanent consequences. The whole idea of ready made respecs undermines one of the fundamental pillars of Dust, and New Eden, and that is choices are permanent and have consequences.
Now, I know there's the argument that "**** is still changing". Guess what? **** will always still be changing. Save up a buffer of SP. Diversify a bit. Plan things out like real life. You know, don't put all your eggs in one basket, etc. |
