I regularly use a basic logi suit (yellow/silver variant) and this guy in his AUR proto logi (the yellow/black variant with the glowing red eyes) was in my face. I calmly moved out of his way and he kept getting in my way as if he was "bigger" than me. But when we deployed, he was using the same basic logi suit as mine and he never used the AUR one at all during the match the whole time. Then in the next match, a corp-mate of mine was in his AUR black proto scout suit in the warbage. I asked if he was gonna use it. He said nothing and when we deployed, he used a basic light suit. Again, I watched closely to see if he would use the AUR proto one and he never did.
Don't get me wrong, the AUR suits do look AWESOME and I'm not trying to bash people who like to look impressive. I personally love customizable looks too and a lot of people do. But for Dust 514, I believe it's useless if people are not using them other than to just look good in the warbarge. The warbarge is very short and is not an ideal place to hang out like the Ten-Forward lounge from Star Trek. Maybe the suits are useful for the Planetary Conquest, but that's still rare. I've been having a difficult dilemma about getting the 100 AUR suit I've had my sight on for a while for use in matches and I fear that it's still a huge waste anyway if I get caught and killed.
Even the high AUR suits are outrageous, like the Dragonfly for example. It's what, almost 20,000 AUR or something?
My suggestion would be to lower the AUR requirement of the suits on par with the other AUR weapons so people can buy more of those suits. The lower price, the more people will buy and the more money can be made. The higher price usually drive away customers, much like in real life. Maybe the future player market would change this, but for now the prices should change. It's just my thought. What are your thoughts on this? Do you guys use AUR suits for use in the match other than to look good?
Your right.... nobody uses them because there usually Standard, or Militita BPO's...... But even more important then that.... AUR items were originally intended to be nothing more then aesthetic suits.... in other words, suits that look different but perform the same. Basically for people who wanted to show off. However that's changed to "suits that look different AND give you a reasonable shortcut to the next tier suit" (I think.... I cant remember if its the same for dropsuits as it is for weapons).

Man you know that those are BPOs? right You cant lower the price of BPOs otherwise youll see everyone running with BPOs and losing Nothing and that takes the main Fun Factor away from the game and Theyre worth because they can save you a whole lot of isk and the other AUR suits are the NEO one that save you a whole lot of SP

Correct me if I'm right. BPO is Blueprint Original, right? So the player market would be out of question for the AUR suits if the "BPO" prices can't be lowered.
ISK and SP are free and AUR is not. With a little bit of patience and time, anyone can get plenty of ISK and SP.

You don't understand what a player run market is mate..... Let me give you a basic rundown of EVE economics and Their player run market..... Money is injected into circulation via PVE and Missions. The people who run these things are the people who are creating new isk on a daily bases. These players then go to the market and purchase better ships and gear. This gear is created by industrial players. Industrial players use BPO's and BPC's to produce items/ships out of the ORE that they mine in asteroid belts. These ships/items then get used up in the good old fashion way.... by destruction. PVP and PVE too costs people ships and consequently the isk put into those ships gets lost. (that's how money leaves circulation)
For a player run market to function properly in DUST, we need A lot more things..... A.) PVE (and rewards such as BPC's and BPO's if you kill specific bosses or get lucky) AND B.) Mining (or some other industrial thing that allows players to accrue resources that can then be converted into items/ dropsuits)
Eventually Players should be able to take BPO's and use them to make BPC's of the same gear. You see.... in EVE BP means something a little different then what it does in DUST. In EVE BPO's don't give the owner an unlimited amount of the ship on it. It gives the owner an unlimited number of Runs or trys to create the ship specified on it using the appropriate amount of ORE it requires.
But just to keep this from going on a tangent..... Your wrong, the player run market wont be effected by people who have BPO's because by the time it is a full blown Player run market BPO's wont work the same way they do right now. |

I see. If they changed it, it's likely they would change it again. Maybe if more new powerful variants come in, then the current AUR items should definitely become cheaper.
They wont introduce more valuable BPO's until the BPO's act like they do in EVE. If they did add BPO's of more powerful DS then I would probably consider that pay to win because people would money could just toss on Proto suits, run corp matches and loose half as much money as those who don't have that BPO. |
