Yup guys, the title says it all. Im pretty sure eve players were recently given the opportunity to start training two characters at a time. Its important to note that they probably still cant play with both characters at the same time, but they can atleast have two accruing passive points. WHICH is huge on eve because many players pay for two accounts just so they can train two characters. Now I realize theres nothing stopping Dust players from just hoarding say..... 10 alt accounts as the game is free to play. But if that's true and players are going to do it anyway, I see no reason why CCP just doesn't give us the ability to passive gain our other characters slots too..... idk maybe that's just me. |

So using EVE as an excuse to get dual training in Dust maybe doesn't make a lot of sense (unless the argument is EVE can dual train for the cost of a second account so why can't we - and our accounts are free so...)
It always did strike me as odd to not have passive SP on our other characters since we can just make extra PSN accounts for free. As things stand now this is encouragement to create extra PSN accounts so our alts all get passive SP. The only thing I can think of is maybe they want us to make extra PSN accounts for some reason ... Or maybe sometime in the future our Playstation accounts will not be free (as in maybe we will need to goto plus accounts which has been hinted at for the PS4).
Nah..... you see this is good for them too because if they open up passive skilling on our other characters, hardcore players like me would spend boosters on them, and in turn likely buy more AUR. The eve thing was only one point of the argument, I made three points, so this doesn't undermind the argument at all (though it does dent it a little). |

You can split up AUR on 1 psn account. With an Alt you have to Buy seperate AUR.
But that can't be true..... Why would I want to spend 20 dollars on each alt account??? I'd rather just put 60$ on my main so I can actually use some of the extra money on other things too, not just DUST. I mean lets be honest here.....
WHO HERE PUTS MONEY ON TO EACH OF THEIR ALT ACCOUNTS???
And then lets ask a similar question......
WHO HERE WOULD SPEND AUR ON TWO OR ALL THREE OF THEIR ALT CHARACTERS IF THEY WERE ALLOWED TO BUY PASSIVE BOOSTERS FOR THEM???
...... it comes down to people don't want to spend money on non-main accounts. simple as that |

What do you mean??? Are you saying I could put a booster on my second or third character and it will magically start training passively? Or are you implying that I should spread 20 dollars out on each of my alt accounts to put boosters on them?? Because if its the third option I can guarantee you that I wont put money on anything but my main account because my main account is the account I..... play on? |

Karl Koekwaus wrote:sure, just as long as you pay 20 bucks a month (price of a plex) to activate it.
Not a valid argument, Dust is a free to play game where as EVE isn't. They play 20$ a month to have 1 character passive gain SP, they pay 40$ per month OR the equivalent in isk and they get 2 characters to passive gain.
Comparatively we pay zero dollars a month to passive gain SP on one character. We should in turn pay zero dollars a month to passive gain a second or even a third character.
I would like to point out that passive SP makes up about 2/5 of the total SP you could possibly gain in a week, so its not like it would break the game if people had to alt characters with 2 million SP each on them four months into the game.
I would also like to point out that by having a system like this, people create alt accounts to loophole the 'problem' anyway. In turn this inflates the "unique character numbers" that some websites report are over a million. I wonder how many of those are active let alone unique. IN SHORT why make it more difficult for us to do something that really should have been kept as part of the game to begin with??? Its not for money, as ive explained that three times already, so what is it for??? In my opinion it was, at the time, a decision made so that EVE players would be happy about it. But that's stupid anyway because if im not mistaken a majority of EVE players don't care about Dust to begin with....... |

ie. Activate the Booster on alt char that doesen't have Active passive SP on and you get the 0.5 times or 50% of the passive SP gain that comes from the Booster. Since I seem to remember something of this sor being on the Booster descripion text.
I can't acces my PS3 right now to validate this, but this should be easy to do and confirm. Just switch the passive SP gain off of the char that has Passive booster and make note of SP ammount. And wait few minutes and log into that booster char and take a look.
By all means go ahead and do that, but even if its true I still advocate the ability to have all three characters running passively anyway. I mean..... im still looking for a reason they wont just let us do that? Whats the difference between me making two Alt PSN accounts and just having all three of my Dust characters gaining SP? absolutely nothing except its a pain in the ass for the customer to make these alt accounts...... |

But many people play their alt like a main. Some have even switched their alt into the main slot. CCP will take every penny they can get. I had 4 toxin subbies on my mains PSN account. they wouldnt refund for AUR because it didnt make them any money. They offered to move one to a different character on that account. regardless i would have 1 toon with 2 blueprint subbies. These are the guys who want you to grind for two weeks just to get a 5% bonus to something. All the while commercialing you every match in the warbarge to buy AURUM.
Yes but you still don't get it..... THIS ISN'T MAKING THEM MONEY. Its discouraging players from spending more money on CCP. The reason is, as you stated above, most people 'wouldn't spend a dime on alts' Sure a couple people do..... but I can guarantee they will make more money if people are spending their AUR on three characters in one PSN rather then hoping they spend real money on three PSN's...... You see, the theory is that by opening up the opportunity, more people will spend their AUR faster on their three characters, this would then in turn encourage them to buy more AUR. So what does this mean?
Well it means you and I are happy because we can have three characters passive gaining. And it means CCP is happy because of the increased revenue they would likely get if this were to happen. So what does this mean??? EVERYONES HAPPY |

Correct me if I am wrong.

You still need to restart game to switch chars and takes about same time to do it either way. And yes people play on those alts and also put cash onto them.
its just a pain in the ass to go ahead and make several alt PSN accounts.... I mean there is the whole registration process and all that goes with it. Why cant I just have everything in one place??? The point im trying to make is that theres ZERO reason to not have this, and theres MULTIPLE reasons to have this. That's all. |

Got passive SP Booster on my main but this orange passive sp thing is on my alt. Both of them are gaining passive SP on the same time. Aurum is also available on my alts, I put aurum on my psn account, add aurum to dust and can use this aurum from all of my 3 chracters.
how much does the alts make??? Full boosted SP? or .5 of the normal SP? |

Mat Snam wrote:IF all 3 chars would be able to passively acumulate SP, then what?
Some persieved positives:
-Marston VC proposed that players would spend more cash to get AUR on that particular PSN account. -Makes skilling up multiple chars more convinient and faster, without going into making multipple PSN accounts.
BUT
This does not eliminate the case of where players still make multipple accounts and create 3 alts per account and leave them to lay-low and gather passive SP.
What this entails is more prevalent situation in future, where there is even more of these alt accounts that have been dormant and possibly unused dust chars that have gathered SP passively. Now in due time players would use this to short-cut SP grinding and possibly do something illegal with those accounts.
In 1 years time there would be 3 chars in a alt account that have about 8,6mil SP per char. Thats quite good start on one specialization.
Yeah but what you forgot to mention is that BECAUSE its a FREE TO PLAY GAME, I can make as many alt psn accounts as I want. Sure if you have three PSN characters and my way is made a thing then you could potentially have 9 toons passive gaining at all times. BUT the big thing your missing is that right now I could do the same exact thing and just make 9 PSN alts. So whats the difference? The fact that I have to spend 30-45 minutes making all these alts for something that should be in the game anyway.
Not to mention the PROS that you mentioned. The more concentrated the toons are, the more money CCP will make because people will be more willing to spend 20$ on one account and have it effect 3 toons, rather then spending 20$ on one used toon, while the other two continue collecting dust.....
Another pro somebody mentioned is that this will promote additional gameplay. Not because you cant have multiple toons passive gaining all ready, but rather because its just easier this way. I don't have to sign out of my main and sift through the multiple alts I have thinking "which one is my tank alt" I just quite the game, re-load it and select the appropriate character.
so like I said before..... plenty of reasons to make this happen, not a single reason not to do this that ive seen yet.
and in regards to your year long thing..... 8.6 million is sort of good, but I mean..... your only going to do one specialization with that much (assuming you can aquire the isk needed for the skill books) AND this is already done in EVE as well. People just pay for several accounts via plexes or real money, and then after a year of training they will actually sell the characters for ISK on the order of BILLIONS...... so yeah.... |

Having said that, CCP, you really should allow us to train up more than 1 character at a time on one account since we're not paying for multiple accounts.
Also, I would like to remind you that your encouragement of players (don't be coy, you are encouraging) to have more than one account to play different playstyles in Eve is part of what ruined Eve for so many..
EVE in my opinion is a marvelous game and your right on most accounts here. Its FTP and the only difference between my way and the current way is that the second way is more inconvenient......
Your right in that we cant Dual box like people do in EVE but it is a different environment we play in so even if we could dual box I wouldn't see much point in it considering...... its an FPS.... |

They're just adding a nuisance hurdle. You can just get free emails (gmail), free PSN accounts (using those emails), and then more characters training passively at the same time.

If you want to activate training another character in EvE (having 2 train at the same time) you must use a PLEX to activate the second character. If you are using Real world money to buy Plex from CCP or one of the Online retailers, it is more expensive than having two accounts. The main use I see in EvE is training up new skills that are introduced with some expansions. Maybe CCP will introduce some sort of Booster that allows passive training on your alts. The again, why would you bother, just make another PSN account.
Or I could raise awareness in the forums and maybe one day have my way so that I wont have to........ |
