Vitoc and Antidotes
I think that there could be more usage for the installations and the supply depot. The Vitoc virus would be ideal for the battlefield, which would protect the resources from falling in enemy hands. It would especially be beneficial for Planetary Conquest. Since the Vitoc is rooted in EVE lore, it would fit in Dust 514.
After hacking one of the apparatuses, a vitoc injector can upload the virus on it. Here are a few ideas to what happens to an enemy:
1. After an enemy completes a hack on the infected installation, he will be damaged over time with a small percentage each 4-5 seconds. The higher level of the Vitoc Injectors, the more lethal. This in turn would allow the "medic" role to carry the antidotes to repeal the disease. This would be perfect for those who usually use nanite injectors.
2. After an enemy completes a hack on the infected installation, he would be instantly damaged by about 30% to 50% and cannot heal or repair his shield and/or armor. The medic with the antidote can cure this.
If the CRU (Clone Reanimation Unit) is infected, those that cloned will be hit with either one from above.
I don't think NULL Cannons should be infected unless everyone thinks otherwise.
Here's another idea for the medic role with the antidote injector, they could have some kind of equipment or skill for detecting which installations are infected. Something like the Range Amplifier, but specialized for analyzing or sampling viruses.
What are your thoughts on this?
I am personally a huge fan of the post-apocalypse genre and biological warfare, (Fallout 3, Mad Max, 28 Days Later, etc) and I would be thrilled to use Vitoc and possibly future chemical weapons in Dust 514. :)

Not a bad idea, but I think the current rep tool should be all there is needed to cure it. And the active scanner should also scan for virus as well, not another seperate item. Your idea allows people to choose to skill into the virus, but forces others to skill into 2 seperate itens to counter it. Im a logi and am already pulled too many directions to sink sp into, and I dont need any more. |

The Active Scanner is a great idea. It would encourage people to make better use of it since I don't see much of it in the matches. Maybe a specialized Active Scanner skill in the branch for the Vitoc detection.
I think the skills should stay separated. The Vitoc is a virus and it is an offensive item and the antidote is to counter it as a defensive item. Having one skill for two things would make things a little too easy. I can understand the cost of the SP for skills, but it should be manageable. Think of a samurai or assassin movie where the protagonist is poisoned and he must seek out an antidote. He goes to a medic or a herbalist to get the antidote. It encourages teamwork to support each other. A player can learn both skills, which might be a little more than he can manage with his SP.
Imagine the players being wary of some of the installations and the CRU. It brings real fear when it comes to being hit with the Vitoc. So it forces the players to think and seek out the medics when they're around. |
