Some of the questionable gameplay (LAV derby matches, AFK in MCC, etc.) isn't just about balance. Players get bored with the lack of variety, the grind, and bugs like the PSN-disconnect or LAG and it makes you less willing to seriously invest in a match.
Time to bring out a bounty on mercs system.
Bounty hunting is very much needed in this game. Eve has a good system, please make a bounty agent available to mercs in Dust. |

omg... the level of abuse that would get....... people would use bounties on themselves just to kill other blueberries who afk/mcc snipe/murder taxi.
I LIEK!!!!!!!!!!!111!!!111!!!!!! +ELEVANTY!
but seriously--I like the idea of bounty hunting in this game, however I don't think it's plausible with your "FF" solution.
A possible solution would be to make it cost a TON to put a bounty on someone's head. I can't think of many people who could afford to pay 250,000,000isk (just spit balling here) to help nudge other mercs to focus fire a certain someone in a match. BUUUUUUUUT i don't know how much reward/criteria for putting a bounty on someone's head would offset the want to even do it...?
I like where your head is at with the bounty hunting though!

The friendly fire is needed because why deprive the merc saddled with his teammate when he can earn more isk by shooting him than defending him. They also need to be able to protect themselves but if they are the only ones that are affected by the FF then it is not going to work. |

Is there someone you just are getting sick of that you want gone? Look no further this is the answer...drop 5mil on a bounty and have them mercilessly pursued across the universe. Someone taking the easy road and never leaving the MCC? Put a bounty on his head and watch them run like a little girl! Getting squished by LAVs while protoing a pub match is starting to **** you off? Get the liscense plate of the LAV and spend some isk, we'll take care of the problem for you. X up for bounty hunting today! |

Best way to do it is how the Templar Event worked. You create a contract and set up a time-frame (say 1-7 days) then a number of times they need to kill the same individual (like 1-3), an amount you're willing to pay each person that accomplishes this task, and the total number of people you're willing to pay.
i.e. I set out a bounty on Draco Cerberus -that **** stole my Myron and crashed it 3 times in the same game! Time frame is downtime 6/20/13 through downtime 6/25/13. Number of times needed to kill: 3 Award: 20 Million ISK Number of rewards: 5
So I fork over 100 Million ISK, and the first five people to kill you in that timeframe 3 times make 20 million. After the 5th the reward is gone, but if there is still unclaimed ISK (because you didn't like being harassed or life got in the way of gameplay) the ISK is returned to me when the bounty expires.

he's on the right track ;) imo
but... to team kill them would be nice.... I guess if that individual is in a PC match, his friends/corpmates better like him-- or be part of a corp that is not so poor-- otherwise they may team kill him to to capitalize on killing their own teammate to help buy clones.
It's dirty and i like it! |

I like your thoughts on this Appia, but I would rather the limitation to a certain time frame need not be there. You could just put it in and let it run. |

Take a cue from Dark Souls. Make a corporation whose soul purpos is hunting sinners. The catch would be in figuring out how to flag things for the friendly fire overide. Wouldn't work to have them sign up for a special target in advance....odds of finding them in a match could be slim to none that way. Maybe a target could be flagged for x number of kills, then the Sin Hunters would get a bonus reward or something, based on number of kills each one got? Just spitballing.
It's an intriguing idea...just finding a way to structure it so it doesn't get abused will be tricky in this environment. |

Here's how it works in Eve, mirroring this would work.

afterthought just hit me. Make it a squad command, only available to the Sin Hunters. This way they could quickly flag the target when spotted. The marker shows up on everyone's radar, and FF is turned off with that player. After X number of kills, rewards are divied up according each players number of kills/assists. |

Hey FF sounds awesome for bounty hunting. You put a bounty on me for calling this idea stupid. Then I put on my Militia gear and have my corp mates blast me a bunch of times while we are screwing around and talking in the MCC, then we pocket the money and laugh.. If corp mates can't collect, I'll just get a friend.
Yea, this would work alot better. The 5x restriction like in EVE would definately keep away the exploiters. |

A 10mil isk bounty would also mean that the merc being bountied would have a real reason to run rather than just losing one suit or even 5 they would need to lose 50mil worth of suits before the bounty was gone. |

The problem of having it without a timeframe is that it then becomes happenstance there's no need to search someone out. In EVE you can actually hunt someone down, put them on your watch-list to know if they're online. Dust also has free suits that are completely viable in public matches. you can't go take a Navitas and expect to do well in null-sec but I can run my free Assault-Medic or Assault-Anti Armor suit and score 1000 WPs a game. The time limit puts a sense of urgency on the bounty hunters.

Eve has free ships as well. Dust has free suits. The idea being that there is room to hide somewhere but eventually you will be found. Han Solo had room to hide but he was found one day too. |
