Pretty much any kind of PvE would be good. Or anything besides what we have. All we have now is team deathmatch. Instant battles, Faction Warfare, Planetary Conquest... they're just alternate names to run team deathmatch on the same set of maps. The circumstances don't change for the average Dust player. Instant battles are random and meaningless. Faction battles help a faction in theory, but no one in Dust sees that - it's the same as instant for us. PC battles allow control of land... which means you can have battles that have upkeep and timers on the same set of maps.
If I could play that PShome game in my Merc Quarters for active SP, I would do that just to break up the monotony. I would sit on an empty map hammering a button to mine space-ore to do something different. Fight drones? Of course. Whatever. The game is currently just team deathmatch game which is why it suffers so much in comparison to other games that are just shooters. |

It's possible it would be a different team, at least, PvE and PvP are often developed somewhat separately in other games. I suppose that's often a function of those modes being separate single and multiplayer modes of course. |

I'd be fine with 16 v AI for the time being. I think the alternate play-style is more important than immediate integration of PvP with the PvE. |

I liked the PvE in Mass Effect 3, it was very solid and entertaining co-op messing around with various abilities, combos, etc. That was the only good part of Mass Effect 3.
I think of the separate teams thing sometimes because I know the team that did the multiplayer in ME3 was separate from the single player team. It showed too. The Multiplayer team was responsive to balance issues, in close contact with the community, and generally enthusiastic about constantly tweaking balance and releasing new content. There were balanced updates... weekly or some such. Considering it was just a "mode" for what was mostly a single-player franchise, it was great that they had such keen attention to weapon balance and other issues.
Of course, the squads in ME3 are much smaller than the possible squads in Dust. It makes me wonder if initial PvE might be better suited to 6 person squads initially, just for balancing and testing. Horde modes typically don't have horde vs. 16-player teams after all. |

They already said Planetside 2 definitely won't have PvE. Jesus tap-dancing Christ, you can't even spam for another game right. |

I remember reading that. Unfortunately, five-year future is very.... broad. The entire Mass Effect series released within less than five years (ME1 = Nov 07, ME3 = Mar 12). |
