I truly hope this could be one of Uprising's early threadnaughts because it inspires me to dig deeper, embrace these harsh times and look from whence so many of us have come...
QuickGloves, Kain, and many many more in this thread give me a clearer vision, second wind.
Track this thread by its likes, not its page number.
What if someone like Chribba or anyone else with interweb saavy could make an interweb thingy that could read or parse every forum post and track likes and poster ID and who liked what posts...you'd have to be someone with an analytical/statistical bent..maybe you could make an app?
We could use such an app with the database behind it to 'listen' to what ideas and opinions trended and indicated over time with regard to DUST/EVE. What's that polling system for television that tracks a populations interest and ideas?
If someone decided to do that, then all the Dusties or Dusters or whatever flock you fly with would have to agree to sing in the same tune. Regardless of how frustrating things can be during these early days of Dust, we can distract ourselves with this 'sand outside the box' game we call the forums.
Like if I said #Game Outside the Box And the app could follow that...
Great thread. Thanks everyone. Love this crowd.

Kain Spero wrote:As I've said before Quickgloves, even if we are at each others throats in-game it's always good to step outside of all that and think of the community. I don't agree with everything you say or do, but let's do our best to work with the community and help to make Dust everything it can be. Because Dust can be different than those other games. How?
By using the most 'experienced', storied, popular development studio to do it this way or that way!? No
That's not how you take a fork in the road. Rather, you do it differently...
Meta game the industry. Evolve your MMO into/with another market/platform.
Turn the zombified masses of post-teen youth enslaved to the current flavor of the FPS genre's month into hardened, trained, organized, reproducible, deadly clones and release them into the galaxy, Hell Bent on sowing Mayhem into the barren terrestrial soil of our most precious gravity wells.
And embed each of thier minds with what YOU believed would Harness thier immortality to plow and plunder Your way to power and might.
But it wasn't the harness you believed it to be, was it Heth? And now the tether is loosed The plow broke Asunder and The Beast is running #Amok amongst your stargates!
Just Like That -- You are Undone!
We will BITE the hand that feeds us!
Built a sandbox, did you, Heth? Invited the cribmates over to play? By your rules. But now the sand is over the side! And WTF are these FPS market style clones doing with all that sand!? Outside Your Box!?
Wake up newly born. Don't always willingly swallow the sweetest brew. Bite down hard and hang on for each Clones' life! Weather the coming gales as steadily as we persevere the present doldrums

Don't let this topic die on the General D Vine!
Embrace the fact, everyone of you fighting on the ground in New Eden, that you are the early adopters! You are GenerationOne of what, years from now, will be an industry spanning market crossing worldwide gaming revolution.
What we do will make a difference. Everywhere. On every planet in the cluster and on every console in the industry and to every person wanting to game, fight & compete at a different level than the rest.
Don't lament the pains of growth!
Don't retreat from the edifice of something new.
Don't relent in your efforts to make this game better than all the others. Your game. Our game.

TAG & SoTa,
I understand, and I expect quick gloves and a lot of others reading this post, understand your frustrations. Because we are all stuck in this together. You guys feel the pulse of the community here because you live on these forums and in this game night and day.
This thread was and continues to be an effort to look at Dust from a different perspective than what is commonly posted in general discussion.
Now, maybe truly in your heart of hearts you really do believe all those things you post. I just can't figure out why you are still here day after day posting and posting if you have no hope for the future.
We all know what a mess this game is in currently. We all lament the **** poor fashion that CCP continues to "communicate" with it's players. A lot of us agree that DUST's future may be dim if things don't take a turn
But this thread is meant as a glimmer of light meant to motivate those with some hope left to keep hanging on.
Thanks for your input. I can't say that it's helpful but it is yours to give |
