There is an incredibly high probability that dust 514 will be playable on the PS4 sometime in 2014.
Later thier will be a PS4 specific client but I can't see CCP abandoning the PS3 just yet. |

Dust514 should not move to PS4 at all in my opinion.
PS4's marketing focus is the ability to share.
Personally, if i wanted to record and share my game play i would do it off my cell phone, tablet, or laptop.
I don't need yet another device that focuses on Facebook as it's main reason of existence.
also, the PS4 offers nothing to improve the game play of Dust514 for the typical, dedicated, EvE Pilot/Dust514 merc..
however, It does offer a way to bug the heck out of dev's and others, when some dork can't figure out how to place a skill point or QQ's over something "active game play" would teach.
in addition, I see it as just another device which would complicate and delay CCP/Dust514's development and potential on the PS3.
If your interested in the other games offered on PS4? I can understand the motivation to want to purchase one. Still.. that's not anything to do with CCP's EvE or Dust514.
me, I'll be looking to invest in Ocular and EvR. ;)

Who cares? Who the heck is getting a PS4?
As long as Dust keeps running on my PS3, all will be good. Can't afford to be throwing money at every new gadget that comes out. New consoles are a scam. $400 for Knack and Killzone...OH AND PLANETSIDE CAN'T FORGET THAT!
As long as Dust eventually comes on PS4 to keep up, I can wait a couple years.
Besides I already pre-ordered my PS5. Its coming out the same day as iPhone 10. |

You do understand that recording and sharing gameplay is just an optional feature? Having these feature will help a lot of Dust corps regarding trainings and education, recruitment and such. And the best thing, they are *optional*. You don't need to bother if you don't want them.
However, the PS4 hardware is by far much better than current console generation and will enable CCP to implement a lot of the features that are just not possible on the PS3. If you want larger maps, better graphics, less memory leaks, less FPS drops, battles much bigger than 16vs16, better comms, more items, and many more, you will want CCP to switch to PS4.
Of course, you can expect CCP to improve the PS3 client, but for any significant improvement they would need to move to more modern hardware. I don't see any alternative to leaving PS3 at some point if they want to compete with other modern FPS games on modern hardware.
For me it's "Yes for Dust on PS4" :) |
