On one side we have the people that are willing to give CCP time and support them and give them a chance to prove themselves.
On the other side, we have people wasting their own time and lives to make sure they **** off other people.
I myself am a disgrunted player who have made a few posts asking questions to CCP or wondering about the current state of affairs.
I have been a gamer for most of my life and I would say this is currently one of the worst community I have ever been in.
Hell, it even beats Diablo 3's community.
Im not sure what as a community we can do, but I think its time to pressure CCP to have more forum moderation, to the point of locking MAC addresses to prevent future spam.
I personally dislike the current state of the game, but I see no point to have spams of disgrunted people. I am all for constructive feedback but I will always wonder why some people have to steep so low as to use Ad Hominums and simply spam this place.
So, community, what can be done? What can CCP do? What can WE do? |

We can try to not make topics about how bad the topics talking about all the topics are.
I think we can overcome the forum war by posting outside of the two trenches and skipping over inflammatory topics. Ignore them. Let the doomsayers preach in doomsaying threads. Let the fanbois praise CCP in fanboi threads. Make more threads about the actual game instead of the current metagame. |

The main problem I have with the doomsayers, spammers, and other nonconstructive posters is that when they post, any potential new player who visits the forums is likely to go to the GD section first. Once here they would see all of the negativity in the forums and likely be turned away from the game.
I want the game to grow.
I have faith in CCP that the bugs will be worked out.
I know they intend to add the missing content as well as new content, I simply wish they would give a more specific time frame.
I want to come to the forums to find out about all this information without having to wade through Troll Dung. |

Believe it or not I think the meta-forum action going on, when it isn't carried to extremes, is actually a good step.
The community is reacting and a lot of folks are expressing their annoyance with inappropriate actions. Sure, there's some conflict going on, but if the argument stays one sided only then ****posting folks will think their actions are accepted. Heck, it isn't like this is about opinions... it's about not driving away new players.
Anyway, now CCP knows there are plenty of us who are sick and tired of the crap... so if nothing else I know that if I were a dev and players stood up and knowingly took abuse on my behalf because they stood behind my efforts that I'd feel duty bound to look for a way to deliver for them.
I sure as heck would not be motivated by ****posts or other crap tactics.

Trying to ignore all the QQ threads and such can only be done if the whole community does so.
Which is impossible. There will always be someone caught in trolling. And the trolls will always jump in the constructive threads.
I think CCP isnt strict enough on bans, and trying to enforce IP bans.
I wish CCP would have a bigger presence again on the forums, but Im quite sure they are at the point where its not even worth it to reply anymore and they are just going to plow away with their projects while we argue between ourselves.
Its hard in those cases to know what to do. |

Oh I'm willing , just making noise. Please listen ccp . I want dust to be successful and I think the only road to that is player feedback.
No pc in beta ?
No blog about the scout lav so we could tell you to change it before it was to late ? Where was the thread asking our opinions on the new skill tree? Where was CCP ? Without a clear line of player feedback we will continue to get terrible content without even a word.
In fact ... I came to eve online from SWG, the new player experience. While this is honestly nothing like that becuase beta , it still had the same feeling of dropping without asking our opinion... And they had 6 months of radio silence! Why did they keep changing things with no warning blog explaining what's changing and why. In eveonline they wanted to make fighter only useable by attaching them to other ships. The forum Saud no , ccp listened. In fact dust and eve online are treated so different. Over on the eve online forums they listen and give heads ups, change features.
But here they do something no one asked for ...
In fact you could say the release build with PC, and the tripling of the sp sink without adding more content.... >.>
My point is everything they do they just do it they don't want feedback , they don't Cate about it. When was the LAST TIME YOU SAW A DEVBLOG SHOWING THE PROPOSED BALANCE CHANGES TO WEAPONS. NEVER THAT'S WHEN.
If thus is how arena net or blizzard treated thier customers they would be up in arms too ! All those companies release blogs showing the customers what's coming in the next 2-3 months. Even World of Tanks A PS2! MAG even |

On the other side is me, looking at your post to cut through the BS. Sweeping generalizations are a bad thing to make. There are plenty who try to make constructive feedback even if it is negative, but there are also many who are simply fed up. These are equally important at guaging the overall mood of the community about the game; and this communities mood says DUST 514 is in a deep hole. |

The "this game is crap and I know better than everyone else about how to fix it" crowd is also composed of self assured condescending blowhards.
There are a million ways to complain about game bugs, glitches, missing content, slow delivery, insufficient communication and whatever else bothers you without trying to drive away new players.

Truth. The Feedback section in particular offers much more intelligent and constructive discussions. General Discussions has fallen far in the last few weeks especially. So much other game spam, and so much hostility- to good natured fanbois and harmless trolls alike.

The problem is that CCP did it to themselves with poor communications, promises of communications and then failing those promises again.
From the SP transfers to the next week, to balancing, to skill respecs that arent processed yet, to trailers that actually never happened in game or simply ideas dropped.
I can understand the frustration, as even if its free-to-play, people invested money in promises that never happenned. Ya know, like politics actually.
I understand the sides... the people that still have hope and bring constructive feedback and the people that have been here for a year and continually kept being lied to.
I know the feedback section is better, but the degeneration that has been happening in GD is actually something I rarely seen. Hell, even CCP is barely monitoring it now.
The funny thing is this community used to be great. People were always willing to give feedback during beta. But then all our feedbacks were just ignored.
So what can we do as a community now? Simply wait a little bit longer, give more feedback that might just go unanswered and hope for a miracle?
How can we try to get the community to be more constructive in their frustration?
Hell, even the CPM seems to have taken a step back from all of it.
Was this all part of the metagame CCP had in mind? That would be insane. |
