The key aspect of dust that will keep this the game to beat in FPSMMO is ownership, PS2 doesn't have it, sure you fight for a faction but is it really your war? This is the key aspect of dust that can make dust king. Your dropsuites, vehicles, and weapons are all paid for by you. The districts you take belong to your corp, not to some giant faction. Don't take this as some fanboy post, I am greatly disappointed with the product that is uprising, and in all honest I doubt this game will live up to expectations for the next 6 months - year. However PS2 is that proverbial greener pasture that in all honesty is almost as bleak as dust is.
PS2 is blob warfare at it's finest, where individual skill counts for every little, where fights are determined by which faction has more well organized squads on it's side and the loosers get quickly steamrolled and just leave the area leaving the battle empty. New players face no tutorial like dust, vehicles dominate, and with such high player counts player rendering doesn't happen outside of 50ft of you.
So for all the posters claiming PS2 to be the next godsend remember it's been out for close to a year on PC, and well it really hasn't made waves in that market |

It's the key element of dust that is missing in every other MMO. Don't expect Dust 514 to become a polished finished product for about a year. 6 months - a year after the PS4's launch we will see a true launch of Dust on the PS4 accompanied by actual advertising dollars. By staying on the PS3 CCP is buying time to fix everything that is wrong with the core mechanics of dust along with implementing and testing all the missing features.
By delaying their release to the PS4 CCP is actually saving their launch "mulligan". Their opportunity to reintroduce their now more complete game to the community on a more advanced system. As usual life sucks for the early adopters of MMO games, but in all honesty I think it will be worth the wait.
I understand if people don't want to stick around through these bug filled, featureless versions of Dust. Go play another game for the next year, and let your toon collect passive for when the true launch happens when the game is released on PS4. |
