Until EvE ships plummet from the sky and every match fought at every level in Dust 514 somehow matters in the grand scheme of things, its a B-shooter with some ok fun.
For now, we are facing an AUR-based, pay-to-win (hate me all you want), disconnected buggy shooter with only the mildest of nodding acquaintance with EvE. That is the dead opposite of the ads and breathless fan-base love-cries.
Relying on the community is nice, and I understand where it's "forgive and forget, wait and see, chin up old boy", but still, this thing is just not there. If you have a party with chips and soda and a card game or a board game, and the people really like each other, then if the game is stupid, the guests are just going to talk and eat chips, not play the lousy game on the table. If they don't like each other, the lousy game will not keep them in the same room long.
And finally, I certainly hope that the great enticement for me to stick with this game isn't just some cheap tank-stacking trick or the ability to ruin someone's day in the meta-game by deceit and the selling out of loyalty. We're already shooting each other, can't we build something at the end of the day? |

Dont get me to wrong, I do like having another free game out there and hope they manage to polish this up or at least get on the right track with the next update but Im not going to pretend CCP are these great pioneers of gaming Maybe, and I emphasize maybe, when EVE was released that idea held more weight but even then they werent the first sandbox game with open PVP and a wide variety of skills they were just the first ones to do it in space and even then the skill system wasnt as all encompassing as some other MMORPG games before it
I was simply trying to give CCP some much deserved praise amidst all of the bashing of their work. I know when my work gets bashed -even rightfully so- without any praise for the good work I have accomplished, it makes me simply not want to work any longer.
I bet getting fired would clear that malaise right up. |
