Hey guys, So I watched this video over here from E3
http://www.gamebreaker.tv/mmorpg/ccp-games-e3-presentation/
at about 17-18 mins in one of the Dust DEVS talks about things coming in uprising 1.2. Now for me one of the more intresting things mentioned is the change to weapon ranges.
Are we to assume that the ranges of weapons will be extended? (I do hope so!) I remember back in chromosome it felt that the weapons had more range so going back to that will be nice I think.
Any other information anyone has would be great! |

CCP Remnant (weapons dev) has posted a little bit (but not nearly enough) about this in a few threads.
Essentially, Optimal ranges are staying the same and gentler damage fall will happen down to max effective range, after which you will do 'incidental' damage from effective to absolute max range.
In true CCP fashion, we have no numbers or clue as to how this will actually work until we test it all for ourselves, as they won't tell us anything about it. |

Thankyou sir, I was unaware of this. What you have described sounds very reasonable I only hope that this is documented or somehow in game there is a better way to tell if you are attacking at literally maximum range or if you are at the edge of your optimal.
[I am thinking about the tactical overlay in EVE giving you required information] |

Weapon ranges are fine :P
They create more CQC battles. |

Having played this build for 6 weeks now, I am fine with the weapon ranges the way they are. However, disappearing bullets is crap, and damage fall off is extremely necessary, especially with the way these maps are built (wide open areas with little to no cover).
I agree, I wish there was a way you could better know if you were within optimal/effective/absolute ranges, but I doubt we'll see a feature like that for years, if ever. |

I wouldn't tell us the exact specifics either. If the damage falls off instead of having disappearing bullets it will be better... and if they let us do spreadsheets on this up front it certainly won't hurt us. |

They aren't making weapons just as effective further out. What they're doing is having proper falloff for damage rather than having your shots just stop so that your opponent can backstep outside your range and suddenly take no damage.
That's just ****** for gameplay. |

Nothing going in with a clean slate to get first impressions without the clutter of previous expectation. |

Not sure if trolling or daft. |

It forces you to fight really close battles. They are way more exiting than what we had in Chromosome. |
