In the current build, it is possible to remain in the MCC and snipe at targets on the ground. Also, when on the ground, you can snipe up at players in the MCC.
Isn't finding the perfect "hide" one of the skills of the good sniper? Doesn't MCC-sniping pretty much negate that aspect of the game, as you have one of the best vantage points offered on pretty much every map... particularly the smaller maps (i.e. Domination maps)?
Now... right now it is balanced... they can shoot down and we can shoot up... but IMHO... there should be a shield over the hole in the MCC that prevents anything from entering... going in either direction.
So, thoughts.... MCC sniping: good idea should stay, or bad idea and should go? |

RoundEy3 wrote:Problem is, is that usually you can't see anything worth shooting from the MCC. It's a horrible vantage point unless your team has been stomped all the way back to the MCC. I've scoped out from the MCC a couple of times just to see if it was a good idea, and most of the time you can't see anything or anyone from it.
It's a total waste of a player to sit up there and shoot at dots.
I would agree for the larger, 5 point maps... were 3 letters are in the city, and one letter is outside and between the main spawn and the city.
However, on Domination maps, where the here is only one point and the MCCs for both teams are close in, the vantage point from the MCC is much improved, as is its value as a sniper point.
Any map where people red-line snipe from "near" the MCC... sniping from the MCC gives a better vantage point, and "cover" that would work from the redline is less effective from the high angle. |

The only time I see MCC sniping anymore is on select domination maps, that give the right angle. But to the original question: yes and no. Yes I think that being a bit clever with your placement is part of the game, and being smart is rewarding in New Eden. Also MCC sniping only really hurts players getting killed by the sniper. For example: I was playing DOM when I realized how bad we were wining. In the kill feed all I see is snipers and forge guns. So I go to the objective A, and to no surprise I get sniped. I look up to their MCC and see half their team sitting up there. The other half is on the ground behind the redline with AV and snipers . This meant they weren't capturing A, and we won. On the downside it was really boring to sit through being spawn sniped and blown up the second I got in a vehicle. So MCC sniping leads me to my next point. No, because it is detrimental to your own team and is boring for anyone who you might snipe. Also one of the main reasons people snipe behind the redline is to boost KD ratio. KD ratio is what fuels a lot of hot headed FPS players mostly in CoD... the only appropriate time to worry about KD in DUST is if your losing to many expensive suits. DUST 514 isn't about KD it's about having fun. If getting really high KD's is fun for you knock yourself out sniping in the MCC, just know that it doesn't matter. That's my thoughts on MCC sniping at the moment.
I agree, if half the team MCCs and the other half is behind the red line, then that's a sucky match. However... one sniper and one forge gunner in the MCC acting as suppression and/or AV, while the other 14 people on the team play... that makes things more interesting. |

I agree, design flaw.
My question, then, is if this is a bug/flaw, why can;t it be fixed in a patch, rather than waiting for a full build or point-release (i,e, 1.1 or 1.2, etc)?
When Uprising first launched, there was a bug-update thread that tracked daily releases and fixes to the post-launch bugs... whatever happened to that? |
