You would think the people on a video game's forum would be the most bias, which they usually are. That just shows how unique and dissapointing this game is. People want this game to be a good game. Everyone that talks about how bad it is right now aren't undercover media blitz agents from Planetside 2 - they're regular people who thought a super customizable FPS with space suits would be awesome.
The game has so much promise, but it's hemmorhaging players and the devs aren't communicating well enough. Most players that hate the game won't even say anything. It was free, and they aren't going to look up the official forums and login just to talk about it. They just won't play it anymore. Which really says something about the amount of players who post on the forums and dislike the game.
Once a game loses players, they rarely ever get them back. It's like movies or music or anything else that ever gets released: You'll see the most action the first week of release, then it just dies slowly after that. I think this is even more true with F2P games because it's not like anyone had to wait for their birthday, save up allowance, or get a ride to the store from their mom or whatever to play this game. Dust however is absolutley spilling players like a gutted pig.
This game... is dieing. This game is dieing very fast. It will never see 8k+ players online again. The most important thing is to save the players it does have, but many of the players it does have are too good by now and will drive away new players since the RPG element is too strong in this game, and time invested is more rewarded than natural gun game.

I have seen a lot of negative topics in and out of beta in games I`ve tested and I must agree this doesn`t compare but we all know the reasons why, content will be the remedy for some of this games flaws but other things need to be re done and if that does happen it will be a while. |

I won't even mention Dust to my friends due to the broken state it's in. I know they wouldn't stay long enough. They might have enjoyed Chromosome even if only a little but Uprising would have pushed them far away.
If I were CCP, I wouldn't even advertise until the game actually works. I'd be too embarrassed for others, especially other developers, to see my failed design. |

A lot of the true problems are firmly in the hardware territory. They couldn't do everything they wanted so they slowed down the gameplay to account for more graphics, and even that has turned out meh at best. If there was a 2GB ram version of the PS3 we might have been okay, but right now a move to PS4 would actually clean up a lot of nagging issues like the framerate and internal error crashes. |

The game is not dying. It is in a low cycle because of content(balance and just missing racial stuff) and stability issues. Once everything is hammered out, you will come back in less than a second. By then those of us that trudge on will be months ahead because of our active skill gains and you will complain about being behind. Life isn't always easy. CCP dreams big and slowly delivers. If you can't handle that, there are other games out there for you until you realize you are missing something in Dust that no other FPS game has, Your Actions Matter in Dust. Lol, I'm familiar. I'm the original leader/founder of The Dark Flock after all. I remember people hating aspects of the game, and occasionally calling out the developers. Here it seems just so much more intense. I remember someone commenting on the pool party Ccp had saying if he were there he wouod have drowned a particular dev.
Until I came here, I've never heard someone threaten to publicly murder a developer because of how badly they made a game. |

What you fail to realize is that the only reason EVE was successful was because it had a following of super hardcore, super patient masochists that only exist on the PC side of gaming. the type of demographic that they are dealing with (CoD kids, Battlefielders, hell, even SOCOM players) is nowhere near as patient as any eve player.
In the mind of 90% of the 32,000 people that have downloaded dust, it is a worthless piece of manure that does nothing more than suck time from your life. Odds, are, the people that leave the game delete it because of how terrible the experience is. That's what all my frienss do. They WILL NOT come back, no matter what they see in videos, no matter what people tell them. That's the reality of the console market. Unforgiving, demanding pricks that hate on anything that they aren't 100% satisfied with.
And, consequences in video games might be a selling point for you, but not to the console market. why do you think the most popular game ever has no spawn delay?
Like others have said, dust is hemmoraging players like an elephant with a slit throat, and it will continue to do so until the player count drops below 500. Then it will die.

To be fair, the people that play and judge the game and leave are worthless and to us good players that will stick by this game until the end, getting rid of them just makes our time easier. But yes, the game is in a bad state right now but we have to be constructive and stop all the negative posts that achieve nothing. |

I can back up my claim by citing concurrent users before and after a patch of various games. EVE in specific continues to have really high peaks after each free expansion. Also, check this site out, it has API access to track the number of merc created. http://dustboard.com/global
Currently there have been 2,893,624 mercs, even if you divide that by 3 (1 account can have 3 characters), that is still almost 1 million accounts, which means the game has been downloaded to well over 32,000 that you claim have DL'ed it.
Don't make up numbers and post absolute statements unless you can back them up. It doesn't help the community at all unless you are constructive and form a good argument. |

According to the playstation store, exactly 32033 systems have downloaded the game. when i posted d this, i did not realise that dust came preloaded on the ps3 super slim.
and by the way, the fact that 1 million people have played the game means that the plwyer retention rate is less than 5%.
I'd also like you to know that according to the playstation store, only $12456 in aurum has been purchased over 8 MONTHS. (i can post the maths for that too, if you like.)
In other news, it is possible to get your elite pqck refunded because CCP has ttlechnically committed fraud by calling this an MMOFPS, because it does not meet the requirements of an mmo. |
