Hello,
im flying a Caldari Logistic Dropship and can-¦t decide, which weapons i take for the gunners.
Railguns are seeming not that good to me.
What whould you recommend?
Btw:
If it is important, i have 4300 Shield HP and 1000 Armor HP. |

DS are abandoned, CCP elects to not balance AV with DS in consideration.

If you really want to stay with dropships, practise flying under fire in a militia fit one, even a well placed sniper bullet can knock you off course, I would know, I shoot down dropships using sniper rifles quite alot, as do many of my alliance members. |

I know that already, i-¦ve lost many dropships including assault ones and testet the logistic DS and it can take alot more damage and is easier to control.
Before i start to, i-¦m destroying the annoying turrets like the rocket ones.
The most annoying thing are Forge Gunners, they do something like 1400 damage per shot and you don-¦t really know, from where they are coming.
3-5 Forge Gunners at the same time= GG
Dropships are sure underpowered right now, but i think, when the new ,,Bomber Dropship" comes out, they are alot more balanced.
Until then, i want to use my Logi Dropship als efficient as possible, but can-¦t decide which weapon i take.
Blasters are good against Infantrys but doesn-¦t have a good range and can-¦t really destroy turrets.
Rockets have a good damage but they are not really acurrate, the rocket launchers with 3x rockets per 1.6 Seconds are not bad, but if the gunner is stupid, he does shoot it against the ship and that gives a recoil to the pilot, so i don-¦t know what rocket would be good.
So, which weapon category and what weapon is good?
PS : The militia Dropships are really weak, they can be a onehitkill to a Forge Gunner. |

People that have never flown a dropship/ don't understand what a dropship is supposed to do will tell you that their fine but they are a huge SP and ISK sink with little to no reward.
You should stop now before you end up wasting +3 million SP into Dropships.
If you can find a nice pub matches against some idiots that don't pull out basic AA you might be able to survive if a RDV doesn't plow into you. |

Fit the turrets with lowest PG/CPU requirements, and use that bonus to grab a heavier shield tank and afterburners. Your low slots should just be stacked with PG dianostic systems for the % shield bonus. Max all shield-related skills. High slots should have a shield booster, afterburner and fill the rest with extenders.
Fly high. As soon as you start getting shot at, use the height to pull a steep dive to get to safety. Use cover to aid in survival. When people start spawning in your CRU (2-3 or more), fly fast to a nice dropzone and land for 5 seconds, then get out. If you're hit before you can get to the dropzone, get out.
If you're stopped from deploying mercenaries twice in a row, recall the dropship.
If you really, really, REALLY want to waste money, purchase scattered blasters. These are now extremely expensive and will jack up the price of your dropships to what they were before the price reduction on the hulls.
Fly low, keep out of sight, until you notice a nice blob of enemies stuck in an open position, fly to the right or left of the blob (pick the side based on the environment and/or what you're comfortable with), let the gunner fire until he overheats (assuming he's a noob gunner), rotate 180 degrees and let the other gunner fire, once you get hit once by any form of AV, bail.
If, upon your return, you get hit by AV, bail.
If you're rebuffed twice by AV, recall the dropship.
_
Now, if you used the dropship only to deploy mercenaries you're much less likely to be noticed by enemies, especially if you use the flight ceiling.
You'll survive much longer, however the rewards are non-existent.
There are games, however, where there's a selfish kitten that camps the railgun turret at his base waiting for dropships to come along just to blow them sky high. ()

Hmmm..
It is true that im losing all 2-3 games a Dropship and losed many ISK..
How is it with tanks? Are you getting more ISK than you give out for a Tank? How should you play a them? What is a good Tank Build? Is Armor better for Tanks than Shields? What Skills should i skill for Tanks?
PS: IF i go for Tank, should i make a new Character cause of the 10+ Mil SP Cap?

Welcome! As I explained here https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=892959#post892959 turrets on dropships aren't very damaging. However, I still fly them anyway and here is what I have found:
Blasters: Are the best damage dealers by far but in order for your gunners to use them they need to be very close. This leaves both you vulnerable because you will have little time or room to get away should you start taking serious AV fire and it also leaves your gunners vulnerable too because you are often close enough that they can be shot out by AR users.
Missiles: They deal good damage and have pretty good range good, splash damage to boot as well! However missile mechanics are messed up right now and odds are your gunners will end up hitting you 30% of the time, even when they are aiming nowhere near the dropship. Gunners may had difficultly hitting due to projectile travel time but if you have experienced gunners they can get pretty good at it (splash damage helps). *Bonus! Missile turrets have the lowest fitting requirements. If they weren't so buggy this would be the ideal turret I would suggest.
Railguns: Please never use these. The DPS is absolutely horrible due to overheating so quickly and that missiles do more damage (with no overheat). They have great range but you will never need it as you will be unable to hit anything, especially before it overheats. Only time I would suggest this is on the forward gun of an assault dropship, the quick travel time and long range is helpful in trying to shoot other dropships (especially when they are trying to run away from you) |

If you plan on flying solo most of the time, then it won't matter. But if you run with a squad, ask those who will be your main gunners what they want |

Missiles are really the only practical option at the moment. Unless you plan on flying really low that is.
It would also be a good idea to get the missiles with the largest splash radius as well. Your gunners will have a much easier time hitting with a big splash since they won't have to contend with your movement, the target's movement, and missile flight time quite as much. Just make sure that your gunners know not to aim directly fore or aft. |

I use missiles as my main turret for my ADS. It's a little tricky to hit infantry, but can be really good once you get used to it, and it works pretty well against vehicles and installations.
Problem is missiles on side turrets currently hit their own dropship often. It's a bug, and who knows when/if it will be fixed. I don't even know if CCP has acknowledged that it exists. Splash damage is also bugged, if the target is on higher/lower ground than the missile hits, they don't take any splash. Again, no clue when/if it will be fixed.
Blasters are good, but you need to be really close. And they take up more CPU/PG than missiles, leaving you with less tank. They are primarily an infantry weapon, I don't think they do well against vehicles/installations.
Small rails are worthless, don't even bother. |
