Trying MAG now is nothing like it was. It would be like It would be like driving a Ferrari F40 that hasnt seen upkeep in 10 years and then saying "I dont see what the hype was about"
MAG was a true squad based tactics game. To get anything out of it you need to run with people and get a feel for it. The game is dead but man was it a lot of fun when it was viable.
My favorite loadout was lowest level armor suit, F90, KP7, acoustic locator, sensor jammer, full med kit, and grenades
Domo might be a rare sight but you can still get a feel for it with Acquisition

Clocked in over 2000 hours of Mag here. Number one killer of MAG was the Sony server attack that put the game at zero players for 30 days(online only game no one could play). Then there was the epic "crash and can't play domo period". Plain and simple Sony killed MAG directly and indirectly. In many, many players opinions a game way before its time. If you have not gave it 100 hours you are just trolling, because now many players left on MAG have at least 2000 hours. You think you can compete with that? Of course you gonna die...and die...and if you have no friends rezzing you( which is undoubtedly the case) you will just die. Dude ... you ever hear about "First Impressions " ... If i can't enjoy a game after 5 HOURS playing, it is something fundamentally wrong with that game..and why the hell i need to suffer for over 100 hours, before i can enjoy a game ? that is just wrong. Do you realize that most gamers will play only for 1 HOUR, before they decide if they like the game or not ?. So i think 5 hours is very generous, considering that i didn't enjoy a single second of it.
MAG is dead man. Its unsupported and the only people that still play it are super-vets that know the game back and front. Of course it is not going to be new-player friendly NOW.
When people reference MAG, they are speaking about what it was like a year or two ago when it was a viable game. Now its a ghost. If it were still viable, many of us would still be playing it. |

So a game that was released 4-5 years ago is the same as what CCP can put out in 2013? That doesnt bode well for DUST. If DUST was even half decent as far as core mechanics, nobody would even bring up the MAG comparison and that is just sad. |

I wont argue with that. DUST is ruled by vets and so far it seems like it is unsupported as we constantly get stuff we havent asked for and they cant seem to fix the core mechanics of it.

In all seriousness, people just want to see progress. MAG was a great game.. for its day. It should not be the standard of FPS play in 2013.
SOCOM -> MAG -> ???
People are waiting for that next game to take the reigns. |
