Whatever happened to that? The program has been around for awhile now, and supposedly they track if our recruits continued playing/etc. The details to come on that...

That page has said that since January? Is half a year for details (not content) typical? |

I'm not really talking about "lies" per se, I'd just like to know what's happening with that. Supposedly different people work on many of these things anyway. They cite somethings about multiple PSN accounts as well:
Quote: Abusing the Recruiter Program is considered an exploit and will not be tolerated. Incidents will be handled on a case-by-case basis and action taken may include bans for all accounts involved and/or confiscation of ISK and items. Abuse includes, but is not limited to, farming gifts and making throw-away alts for grief-play purposes.
and
Quote: CCP reserves the right to restrict eligibility for some rewards according to criteria established by CCP in its sole discretion, and published by CCP from time-to-time, including but not limited to minimum client log-in time of the inviter.
or even
Quote: The Recruiter Program is intended for you to encourage new players to join DUST 514. Violating the purpose of the Recruiter Program in any way or form is prohibited. Violations of this rule will be handled by DUST 514 Customer Support, and action will be taken against players who violate this rule (including, but not limited to, warnings or bans of the offending accounts).
As for scouring my memory: It's featured prominently on the Dust site. The recruit program is hardly some sort of stealth initiative. |

Nor would you want them to be overly punitive in pursuing things like this.
The reward system, as near as I can figure, is meant to garner some sort of "recruiter credit". You can then redeem that for recruiter items, which I assume are STD or MLT quality (or possibly somewhere in between like the Recruit AR). This is speculation on my part though.
I base this on the existence of various items in the "csv" file they released with uprising:
Staff Recruiter Sniper Rifle Staff Recruiter Scrambler Pistol Staff Recruiter Militia Frame Staff Recruiter Laser Rifle Staff Recruiter Assault Rifle Staff Recruiter Active Booster (7-Day) Staff Recruiter Active Booster (3-Day) Staff Recruiter Active Booster (30-Day) Staff Recruiter Active Booster (1-Day) Staff Recruiter Active Booster (15-Day)
and
Senior Recruiter Light Assault Vehicle Senior Recruiter Assault C-I
AND
Master Recruiter Assault C-II
Though there are also the oddities of:
Recruit Submachine Gun Recruit Militia Frame
Not sure how a recruit would be getting those... not like there's a mechanism to get "more recruited".
The meta level on the staff recruiter stuff is 0.
On the other hand, the Master Recruiter (the only "master" item) is Meta Level 2. It actually has kinda interesting stats:
315 Shields 72 Armor 165 cpu 33 pg 5.1 m/s movement
compared to a regular Caldari tier 1:
210 Shields 120 Armor 150 cpu 30 pg 5.0 m/s movement
Intriguing, no?
So it's less, "WHARGARBBLL-DUST-SUX-I-GO-PLAY-HOPSCOTCH-NOW", and more... this seemed like an interesting system for providing some unique items and incentivizing recruiting. It's been about half a year since we heard about it though. They apparently have made items related to the system. Perhaps they could fill us in on where that's actually at now though. Reading items in a csv file doesn't constitute news.. nor does my speculation. |

I'll admit that while I don't consider myself "down on Dust", that the friends I have given recruit links to, I've recommended they make a character and then wait for some issues to get fixed. This comes from describing known issues (memory leak, characters not rendering at distance, hit detection), and suggesting they might enjoy it more "later" when resetting periodically isn't something necessary for solid performance - and some core shooting mechanics are a bit more reliable. |

If it's anything like the Recruit AR, it might be slightly better than militia in some respects, but not with the superior fitting of STD-level.
I like the "idea" of a lot of these weapons because most everything that gets released is identical. Every Assault BPO... a Caldari STD with identical stats and various colors. The various ARs: Toxin, Dren, Exile - all identical to a STD AR.
The Recruit AR was a little different though. Slightly more damage than a Militia AR (and likewise, slightly higher than STD). It's actually an item with different stats! It's variety! It's something more than "every BPO weapon is exactly the same" - either same as militia - or same as STD.
The Master Recruiter suit is interesting for the same reasons. It wouldn't be a reason to abandon proto, but it's... "different". Only "slightly" better than STD for being a "master".
I don't know. I like the idea of more granular differences in items. The recruit AR is a taste of that, but it's something we can give friends but not get for ourselves. |

I haven't recruited many people. But considering that it was supposed to be incentivized - it seems fair to ask how they've worked that out since the year started. The offer of "rewards" isn't a new thing, and it's still something plastered prominently on the webpage. |

I kinda assumed the New Eden videographers might be at the top of recruitment awards. It'd be interesting to see how that tumbled out anyway. |

The fact it has higher than average EHP is intriguing. Even with a tier 1 set of slots, you could have an interesting setup there. |

I actually really like the recruit rifle. As mentioned, it's "different" from the militia and standard. It's variety. It's part of the reason I'm interested in the recruiter rewards. |

It's been a long time since I've seen CCP reference it. It's not the sort of thing I recall being mentioned at fanfest, with the uprising launch, or at E3 for example. |

DUST Fiend wrote:I would love to promote this game all over the place, but as is, there's no way I will do that. My link is floating around and I've handed it out to a couple people, but not being able to track your stats and not really giving any kind of meaningful connection between you and your recruit is meh.
I for one would love to see an affiliate system of some sort. Every time a direct referral of yours purchases AUR, you get like, 10% of whatever they purchased in AUR as well. Give us a way to initially contact our recruits, like a section in game that shows us our people, and shows them us (either side can opt out whenever they like to be removed from someones list)
Since the recruit rewards exist largely in an in between area around militia and standard, something that worked AUR use by recruits into the equation is interesting. It means people wanting to the exploit the system would have to dump money into the economy to get weapons they could probably get better versions of directly by buying Merc packs and the like (since Merc packs have STD weapons).
Of course, you'd probably want more to the recruit mechanic than just that, otherwise if you recruit a lot of consistent players that weren't buying Aurum - no rewards.
If they do give us "recruiter credit" or "recruiter points" to redeem for items, that might indirectly let us track out recruiting stats I guess.

I'd prefer my concerns were addressed without the random Planetside spam really. Planetside is already out, and it's horrible. It's on a different platform anyway. It's like trolling Halo fans with Resistance footage: it's not a PS3 game, it sucks for PC, and the PS4 doesn't exist yet. It's totally irrelevant to asking about Dust issues. You might as well go make those posts on Kirby Gamefaqs boards - it makes the same amount of sense. |

Kelrie Nae'bre wrote:While not as important as bugs, I'd like to know what's going on with this. Surely some decision was made in the past half-year (and presumably before that since I doubt there was zero plan before you launched it).
I'm not particularly interested in them stopping work on every other task to implement recruiter awards. It's more a matter of:
A) They've already put "reward" items of a sort in the game. So, the content is created I guess.
B) Presumably they have some sort of scheme on how those would be distributed. Even if it's not going live for a month or two, it would be "nice" to just be told how it's going to go down in short. |
