Ant that's entirely possible. It's also possible that the problem is on their end rather than an issue with the game. I generally only squad up with a handful of IRL friends, and for the most part, we can play for several hours straight with no major issues. Occasionally one or more of us will get the loading screen bug, but that's it. Aside from the guy who's on garbage internet and can't even stay connected on Skype.
I'm a director for one of the largest corps in the game, I play with A LOT of different people. It's not individual players connections that are the issue, and CCP themselves have agreed. |

Could be both. I find it unlikely that an issue that some people encounter seemingly all the time, while others rarely encounter it, if at all, isn't due. at least in part, to something on the user's end, whether poor internet, the model of their PS3, the number of chat channels they have open, or something else. It seems likely that it's something the user has some degree of control over, otherwise, it's something that should be affecting everyone consistently, instead of only 2/3 of the playerbase.
CCP have already stated that the problem is with memory leaks and poorly optimized code. Sure, it may very well be partly the "fault" of the players connection, but it's really sort of irrelevant. If a large percentage of players are having more problems in Dust 514 than they have with other games, it's CCP's job to fix it. I've never seen another PS3 title with such persistent and major problems. |
