I'm going to be writing a new guide coming in the next week. Its going to be about where to advance with one of the basic 4 setups. I'm trying to optimize it so they will get the best start out of the academy. For instance you played all 4 and really like the heavy and want to make that your path. Plus after that I will be getting into specialty classes, like shotgun scout, or any other ones. The reason I'm asking for help is that I have not played all the specialties and would like for yall to pitch in and send me what specialties you're good at and how you would have someone train to them out of the box. My hopes in writing this guide is so that all these players out there that get overwhelmed after leaving the academy can not still play and not just give up on the game.
email me at [email protected] or just comment below
The more people that help make this guide the more people we can help!

This is a great idea and I hope it goes well.
Just to let you know, there is already a logistics guide out there, that is currently the best in my regard.
The Logi Code. Guide to Logi Success. Updated for Uprising
Though, don't let that stop you writing one if you so choose. Also, I've started compiling all relevant and decent guides in one post here.
The New Guide Compilation: A one-stop-shop for all your guides.
So, if you put together some good guides, please let me know and I will add them to the pile. |

The logi guide is RedBleach's. A lot of people have added to it and it's pretty much the definitive work on how to be a LogiBro, as well as good info all around for running the suit itself in general.
Maken Tosch did some scout works a long time ago but the posts have become burried and lost. There are a lot of 1-shot posts and small elements but no overall collective on the class. I'd love to see something about that written up.
Heavies are pretty much the same thing. Nothing definitive and all-encompassing.
Assaults.... Assaults are generally slayers which means their section would actually have to be more about various weapon types and how to use them I'd think. |

What he said basically.
I also think Bojo The Mighty had a scout guide in there. |

I just wrote a dropship guide. There are others but I wanted to explain dropships in a way that I was having to think about them in order to learn to fly them.
Dropship Guide
Otherwise, I can comment on tanks and sniper.
Shield tanks: use the 1 extender, 2 adapter and 1 sheild booster fit. Tweak your fit from there to add other things.
Armor tanks: I found using a heavy repper and a light repper works well. Otherwise, stick to active tanking with hardener and of course the biggest plating you can. 180mm plate and if not then a 120mm plate. Try to add a 60mm along with the 120mm if possible. But choose the hardener or light armor repper over the 60mm plate.
Sniping: Once you train up the sniper rifle then train up the sub machine gun (or other sidearm) for close protection or better yet do as I am doing and use that as a secondary setup for the times that sniping gets too boring. Other than a damage mod and dampener mod sniping doesn't really need anything else on the dropsuit. I am up to the intro scout role suit. However, I use the basic light proto for defense mods and I can run into the battle using my SMG and help hack. Jumping around in the light suit to evade attackers is fun!
I have trained up to standard dropship on all three of the above characters as a secondary assist role. My sniper uses the militia mods for a cheap fit and my tankers already have the ability to use the advanced shield/armor mods so training for standard dropship doesn't take much more sp.
I have a mobile CRU on the dropships to provide cheap logi support. Dropships cost more money than they do points and you can get a militia CRU and be up and running in no time to provide a great support role. Flying the dropship is the hardest thing to do but read my guide and it will be easier.
For assault I recommend skilling your weapon up to advanced first then work on your dropsuit. Especially in academy matches the weapon is more important. You can also use cover in a battle to compensate for lack of dropsuit defenses. Nothing however, will make you do more damage on the battlefield. People already in proto everything will kick your butt anyway. So, at least do more damage to them for someone else to finish them off. |

Thanks for the info guys i have started work on the guide and will include the info in it. Everyone that has participated in the creating of this guide i will give credit to in it. On a separate not I just posted on the ideas forum and i want to get yall take on it. I said i would like to see them add a certificate system like they have in EVE. Where if you want to fly a ship it tells you what skills you should have to make it at least good. It wouldn't be that hard to do with this game. Lets use the Amarr heavy dropsuit with a mini gun as a example. The certificate for that dropsuit would be Heave machine gun basic, armor wouldn't basic, core systems basic, and amarr dropsuit basic. then when you move up to the advanced it could be all those just at the standard lvl, then when you get to the sentinel you can take it to the elite lvl. What are yall thought on that? |
