I'm the kind of guy who digs fails. Fails of all kinds are moments to relish, revile, and most importantly shared. It's not just fails either, I have seen golden moments that should be saved for posterity and presented to the world end up being "you should have been there" stories or downright forgotten... And why? Because not all players can afford video capture equipment. It's ridiculous. I feel very strongly that there should be some theatre mechanism built into the game that would allow players to share their moments of triumph/shame with the world. Now I know you guys are busy at CCP and I certainly don't want to waste your valuable time asking this... But, when will we see something like this in what is rapidly becoming the most awesome game of all time. Is it in development or has it been put on the shelf and sadly gathers Dust as other things are pushed through. I look forward to your reply. |

You can do this with a Screen Capture Card, the only thing is that the video will be stuck in the FPV as opposed to the 3rdperson Theatre provides.
And if you want to make vids bad enough, buy that super duper expensive screen capture card. Everything pays for itself In the end. |

That's the thing though, not everyone has access to that equipment. I for example will have an extremely difficult time getting my wife the accountant to approve that kind of expense. Hell, she won't even let me re-up my eve subscription. I think this mode would really work for Dust and help spread awareness of the game. You think it's funny when a warthog flattens a guy, make it an orbitally dropped turret and you got YouTube gold. Sure the equipment exists, but why not hand the tools to the players themselves, free of charge, and let them showcase the game better than any review ever could? |

Theatre mode is almost never a bad idea in a game, and I to would like a theatre mode, but this, like many other suggestions need to come slightly later from now, once everything is in and balanced. |

This is what the pubs are. We are the gladiators in some perverse Gallente Cable TV Show. Add Camera Drones to the battlefield and let combatants destroy them (no benefit in any way aside from a pretty explosion) only to have them be replaced by more. Let the viewers of the TV show select one of 6-8 feeds (each represented in game by Camera Drones).
Throw in some cheesy advertising from the New Eden sponsors and give the beginning and end of each match some overdone parody of ESPN theme music.
I'd probably die laughing every time I watched a match. |

This is good and all, but down the line stuff..
And in my opinion, this shouldn't be available to re-play the moments in-match, because that would be used to exposition and figuring out where that pesky sniper is. Or some other information gathering process. |

I'd probably die laughing every time I watched a match. Where there is EVE TV, there is he old DUSTy TV. Much More Old School. Cooler Too. |

Honestly I would love this feature and from my understanding the implementation isn't too difficult. The data for the match is already being processed the ps3 gets data on everyone's position on the map amd conditions of the map constantly and then your ps3 runs through the coding and decides what should and should not be rendered. So essentially all the data for reviewing reviewing matches in first person from any players perspective fter matches is there. Just currently it's being dumped by ram with no option to save a review. So a simple option before matches to save match data and a toll to view other players perspectives would at least be a short term make us happy thing. But still only really useful to help learn srategys. In the oh crap I just got stomped, what did they do that was so effective situation. And for the guys with capture cards. Now video editing tools like what cod uses takes a little more effort and I rally don't care to see it till other thing are fixed. Also third person would be down the line as that would require attaching other camera points to the character for camera entities to be coded in by the ps3 during review of "footage". And a free moving camera requires a whole other entities to be generated and essential altering of original data.
At least this is my understandind of it. So short term I would love to review my game matches using the existing data. But months down the line.... a full video suite familiar to black ops 2 would be nice. I'm very fond of that games theatre system. But I don't want dens wasting too much time on it right now. |

Man, you've got all kinds of good ideas.. (You posted on my thread about problems in Dust.) And not just make it theatre mode, make it a damn movie maker. Make customized camera modes, make it go slow motion at some points, maybe all the way down to -50x speed, let us watch the sniper shot fly through the air to the guy's head! I would Youtube the *SHOOP* out of that! Let's see if this older post can get back up, get their attention, and maybe get added.
Exio out.
Hey, did you need that? "Need what?" *headshot* Your life. |

Agreed, but putting theater mode in this game would be like putting a $2,000 stereo in a clunker with a dying transmission. Core gameplay improvements and core features are a much higher priority right now (as they should be). |
