No, he means thousands of maps. When I bought a merc pack during the closed beta, the fine print promised 40000+ maps.
What they're doing is counting every time they change one structure on the maps, even the tiny small ones in the red zone that no one sees or uses for anything, as a whole new maps. So they're not really lying, just vastly under delivering on their promise. |

Yup. The terrains are something like 5km by 5km or more, and CCP has opened only very small areas of those to play on. Which begs the question, "Why?" |

It's not very well fleshed out, the buildings are poorly textured and not entirely attached to the ground. You can also drive/fly/walk through them. They're (hopefully) not a permanent set of structures, just a halfassed attempt to make it look like there is something in the distance. |

I was skeptical, but with a well built random map generator, it's completely possible, which is what they were promising. Procedurally generated battlefields sounded awesome at the time. But from what we've seen so far, even if they randomize the structures on each map, it's still basically the same map over and over since only 5% of the battlefield is buildings, the rest is boring open space. |
