This thing is a great gameplay area, but sadly it is underused. It needs to be used more for housing objectives, I rarely get to see it used for objectives in Skirmish, and usually only in Manus Peak. I would like to see this surface infrastructure piece used in Line Harvest map variations where they would replace one or both of those big "table" structures. I would like to see them used on variations of Spine Crescent for objective E and D as well. Basically its awesome, please use it more. |

Finally got in it yesterday! WHY IS THIS NOT USED????????????
Leaves a lot of other questions for level design: why don't they build structures elsewhere in districts rather than recycling the same valleys?
Why don't they just spam some structures and make a city? |

Would really be great to see medium structures (like 4 of these things) used to take the place of an outpost, or "city". They could mix and match different combinations of medium structures also. |

That is what we currently call the Consolidation Matrix.
We are making more things kind of like that in terms of game play. Interior, but not quite interior, more vertical gameplay, etc.

There are a couple reasons why we do not have multiple sockets near each other in the scenario you speak of.
-Depending on the size of the socket (S,M,L) we have a blend area that is not allowed to have static meshes (objects) in them. The distance is big enough to be noticeable that there is a lot of terrain between them.
-All sockets have a radius that load / unload the high and low LOD. We use a point system for each socket size and those radius when intersect add up. If we have too many things loaded at once it will kill the framerate. So for an example, we usually can only have 1 large and two medium with in a certain distance of each other where their radius intersect. If we even introduce a small into that scenario that the radius intersects with that large and the two medium at the same time, then it will be too heavy on hardware.
-Because of our system, it is also not best for us to place meshes between sockets that would some how visually connect them, because those may not connect visually. If we create an area with Caldari based models on the terrain to connect, and the sockets that load are Gallente, then it would just look wrong. |

Haha, on our backend, I am not sure what entirely is holding it back from coming. Its a medium socket, so you will only see it where medium sockets are. That is not a lot of gameplay areas right now that do. I am also not sure what is happening on the back end that generates the "random" load of it. I can speak with one of our TA's this week though and see if it had a number messed up some where. We had a similar issue with certain gameplay areas showing up more than others and we found that. So we might be able to do the same with the Matrix so it is more fair in its loads. |

Guys seems like making a FPS in U3 is kind of hard, (as almost none of the games on it area FPS), and the budget problem may be resolved by bringing people who are really used to the toolset (and therefore more experienced on it, instead of having to train your team) , have you looked at hiring some of the guys involved in borderlands or bulletstorm... |

About time! yesterday, I got into some ambush OMS with this as the structure in the middle of manus peak, and a supply depot on the inside.
Lots of interesting fighting going on around and inside of it. |

That is urban combat, my fav. More si's need this layout. |
