the unreal 3 engine. as some devs in the IRC pointed out, a big chunk of actually making content to release is optimizing said content to run on unreal 3 and not kill your framerate. any model they make needs to be very carefully stripped of polygons so its easier to render. this also limits how complex or dense the maps can be, as structure complexity takes a hefty toll on your FPS. i believe this also counts toward gameplay additions since they need to make sure their implementation doesn't cause FPS spikes or more lag
so basically, dust really NEEDS to be ported to ps4 and the unreal 4 engine. |

The worst thing about the unreal engine is almost that it takes 25% loyalities. 25% of what people pay are going into epic's pockets. |

I'm not sure I trust your intel. But just so you can make it a little more believable next time, they're called Royalties...not Loyalties...
There's typically different licensing models, I'm sure one would see a cut of sales, however I'm pretty sure there are also straight out licensing models that would allow for the perpetual licensing of the engine. |

They can't put out patches every week or whenever they want to. Sony decides when there patches go out. |

What is this tin foil hat thread? Many beautiful games run without fps issues on unreal 3. Sadly dust isn't one but be happy they can port to unreal4 easily. |

I'd say there's a big difference between staying within a polygon budget and refusing to fix a memory leak that has always been in one of the maps since its introduction several builds ago.
Just as well, another big issue for them seems to be animation budget - which is the reason we no longer have Small Turret Installations. |

There are a lot of games that run on UE3 and they work just fine. |

There a lot of games that don't run well. If we are going to use facts in our arguments then we should use all the facts not just the ones we like. Lots of games have problems and this one is no different. I am not defending CCP, I am simply stating that not every game runs perfectly on UE3 and we shouldn't expect them to because another game does. |
