I don't mean in terms of areas but rather the scale of issues which the CPM addresses.
After skimming the blog post with the CPM "activity report" there are lots of severe issues but I am curious about smaller ones.
part of it is they are often too small for attention, viewed as less important and skipped over.
I wont' stomp my own campaign here but examples might be people displeased with re-skinning of certain items post Uprising (syndicate explicitly and I believe people were unhappy with the Quafe suit changes as well). Another example is being able to choose barge bling separately from prefered selection.
Bringing these items to the table might seem like picking up the red phone to declare that a fly got into your room but these are hopefully things that can be quickly discussed and either put into task lists or labeled as "SoonTM".
Personally I'll say that when what I view as a simple question or change elicits no response (understand too this doesn't mean agreement) in the same way an large or foolish question/request does, the feeling of not caring is increased. While I would not imply that the above examples require no effort, the difference between them and say "Add jetpacks" I consider tremendous.
However I certainly realize some of these things may be in discussion and just not told to us because of their decreased importance, and even that mentioning them in a report can make it seem like less time was spent on more important tasks, which is why I am straight asking the CPM's focus.
Do you go to the plate for pink quaffe suits and bling or is the focus on OP Tacs and water gun laser? |

I actually think small things do deserve attention. There was actually a fantastic thread created that deserves some attention about the little things in Dust that could be improved.

There is only so much time that we have available, but community efforts like these can go a long way to making sure the small things don't go unnoticed.
For small issues that include a somewhat wider scope Iron Wolf also create this really good thread here: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=851290 |

There's really nothing that's outside the scope of what we can raise with CCP (including pink Quafe suits - I mean why they gotta discriminate against us heavies? We want to look fabulous too!!!) but that doesn't necessarily mean its going to magically get done just because a CPM discussed it.
The reality is that we are here primarily to establish a process and procedure through which future CPM's will interact with CCP day-to-day to resolve issues just as the CSM has with EVE Online. We're not there yet, but we have made in-roads as more developers have opened up and discussed issues with us. CCP Wolfman, for example, started out kind of quiet and more social but since than has had some great conversations with us about things like the (totally unnecessary IMHO) Laser sight change.
In the meantime, we'll tackle anything the devs want to discuss with us, and continue to raise issues in return, but how much of it "sticks" depends largely on the Shanghai studio opening up to us and that simply takes time. The more the CPM learns about Shanghai's development process, the more we can figure out how to get your ideas and concerns inserted into that process at the right time, but there's still a lot we're lobbying to find out. If we do our jobs right, it won't take years like the CSM - but it might take a few months.
The current situation is both far from "OMG CPP FAILLZZ Y U NO TALK TO JEDI COUNCIL????" but also far from the place of efficiency that the CSM has developed through years of hard work and diplomacy - so I'd rather be clear that our scope is first and foremost establishing a strong supportive relationship with CCP, so that future CPM's can accomplish their agenda and work on issues of their choosing, rather than this being a ready-made council experience.
All my necessary expectation management aside, continue to hit us up with your thoughts and concerns and "little things", whether you think its important or not. We're not going to refuse you service unless its a truly terrible suggestion, in which case we'll happily tell you so. We still speak with many CCP staff daily and so there's always opportunity to get a message across even while we slowly build more structure into this process. |
