I know, everyone's probably rolling their eyes and sighing right about know because of another "Murder Taxi Fix" thread popping up, but what I'm proposing here doesn't have anything to do with changing the murdering part of the deal, but rather just making the thing a lot more noticeable.
I don't really care if an LAV goes through my armor and shield with a slight bump, or if there's a BPO available to everyone to spam whenever, that's all fine. No, what gets to me is just how amazingly stealthy those things are!
Its like radars are completely useless towards them. which makes no sense, why can a loud speeding vehicle be as stealthy or more than a scout dropsuit? Solution, give vehicles a scan profile as well, let the militia gear ones really high, and maybe the higher tier ones lower. (or at least for LAVs)
If we give a high scan profiles to LAVs, then people could avoid them more easily, but the LAVs would still remain as deadly, they just wouldn't get to sneak up on people as often. That way people would really have no excuse on why they couldn't just avoid them.
Before anyone says, no I don't get constantly run over by LAVs, I main as AV, so they're usually no trouble for me. I'm saying this for the people who don't want to be half-AV units 24/7, and instead want to mainly focus on something else without having to worry some LAV will just appear out of nowhere and they not being able to do anything about it because they didn't carry an AV weapon.
So what do you think? (...hopefully this idea didn't get shot down before already.) |

How about just adding more ROCKS, MOUNDS, CRATES, simple obstacles.
Would reduce "Murder Taxis" as LAV's would have to move around these obstacles, and at the same time, allow for more strategic gameplay and movement, instead of having to cross large open areas with no cover.
Well, that'd be nice for a couple of maps, but keep in mind that would heavily affect tanks as well, along with installations and snipers, and not all maps should need to be big obstacle course just because of this.
Also you forget this could very well make unfair choke points to either side. Plus make it too closed and even if you're making it more difficult for an LAV to maneuver, you're also making it more difficult to dodge LAVs, making it a pointless countermeasure. |
