This is a desperate attempt at fixing armor modules before they are released, but because I know CCP didn't listen to Arkena Wyrnspire's thread I will assume the same for this one.
The numbers we have been purposely, accidentally, shown in no way address the issue between armor and shields. Let me reiterate the issue at hand. At the current moment armor is inferior to shields in every way, armor has lower EHP,lower repair, and lower mobility than a shield tank who has no penalty except a higher CPU/PG cost. Because of this the only way of fixing armor tanking was to allow armor the ability to rep at a speed close to, not the same, as a shield tank while maintaining the same mobility. In addition we needed armor tanking to have the versatility to forgo armor repping for a very high EHP and thus allowing buffer tanking, in other words meat shields.
So how did the new modules not fix the problem, well for starters reactive plates take all of the negatives of Armor plates and Shield extenders and put them in a small package, Low HP and high CPU/PG costs from shields, and the movement penalty from armor make these plates useless and inefficient.
Ferroscale plates, low HP and High CPU/PG costs just make these copies of shield extenders for armor tanks, while this would give an armor tank the ability to stack damage modifiers they completely ignore any chance of repairing making them completely inefficient when it comes to active battle unless of course they have a LogiBro tied to their finger, but as Arkena said this takes a gun off the field.
Our current armor plates and repairers are more effective than these insults to our various threads on this issue, these plates are an insult to the collective data gathering we have put our hearts into in order to ask CCP to provide proper gameplay to all suits regardless of how they choose to take a bullet.
How to fix them:
There are two ways to fix these modules and armor tanking itself, I have posted these numbers and ideas in other threads but I will repost them here.
1) Fix the plates themselves
Reactive plates: These plates should have no movement penalty, or a very low one like 0/1/2, HP at or slightly below shields(If no movement penalty), repair at 1/2/3, and CPU/PG costs in between Normal plates and shield extenders. These plates should be the go-to plates for medium suits who want to compete with Minmatar and Caldari suits, while staying just as mobile, and just as active. Obviously their repair rate should be lower than the Caldari repair rate simply because nothing except some Logistic Lavs can rep shields. But we should be able to go into battle take some shots, sit it out for a minute and come back fully fresh, the Caldari can do this we should to, obviously the Caldari and Minmatar should do it better but at the moment we have to sacrifice a lot to get a chance at doing this with armor; in EVE this system makes sense but we are not spaceships we are people.
Ferroscale plates: They should have HP in between Shields and Normal plates with no movement penalty, this would allow for medium HP buffer tanks that want to stay mobile, like Hit-and-run tactic scouts and Heavies who want mobility for survivability.
Normal plates: They should have way higher HP to allow for very strong meat shields, who cannot run away and are forced to eat bullets like champs and shrug them they are nothing, of course they should be afraid when a entire team ganks them but generally they should be the front line heavies with nothing to lose, just raw meat and power.
2) Suit side fix Gallente/Amarr: Speed buff to mitigate the current speed penalties. -AND- Gallente/Amarr: CPU/PG reduction to all armor plates to give them better usage of the new plates. -AND- Gallente/Amarr: Passive armor repair to keep them active in battle, this gives the option to build upon it and make them competitive in active battle or build a buffer tanks with very slow recharge rates.
I am a Gallente, and I love being one, but we all have our limits and at this current state I have just about hit mine. It would be far more easier switching to a Caldari suit than hoping for CCP to fix this issue. |
