I see a wealth of potential in this game. I really enjoy EVE and like the lore and aesthetic of dust. However I am not going to turn the blind eye to the imbalances and seemingly lack of future console forethough, also the lack of Racial gear and updates being months a part on a game that clearly isn't finished yet.
However soooooo sooooo much potential here, destiny looks good but will be shallow, Planetside 2 has the gameplay but lack of story, and I don't even know what to say about warframe but.....looks like garbage.
I'm not into Eve, I have only tried it for like 2 hours from the beginning in 2007, with guidance from a friend who had played it for a few days. But I've always been fascinated by it. I had heard the rumors of the awesome graphics which shouldn't be possible to portray until a few years in the future. And then I saw it, and it was awesome.
I have somehow loved the whole sci-fi feeling and the universe that Eve brought, despite barely knowing any hard facts. I have often been struck by the thought that maybe I should try it, but each time come to the conclusion that it is not the right time to get started with something so time-consuming right now. I had more important things to me.
When i heard of Dust, I immediately thought that this is for me, this is my chance to get into the Eve universe. And what a chance! The concept is unparalleled. The possibilities are endless. As time go and technology evolve, more and more things can be added.
Moreover, I found a FPS that could be unlike everything else, with a level of interaction and depth that is absolutely groundbreaking. A FPS that could actually be fun in the long term. I've played so many FPS gamed by now, so it really have to be something special for me to bother with another one now.
And now... well, things didn't turn out really the way I was looking and hoping for. Not even close. Not at all. There's the gear- and leveling system, but once you get a grasp of that, the rest is just dull.
The biggest problem I have with Dust is that they call the current state version 1.*. Seeing the state and development progress, I thought the were gonna release near the end of this year. Now they have the label of being "Final"/firsts official/real thing, they must give new things near every month to not be left behind. And I guess they have to spend more time in development to put out small chunks very often instead of baking it together in one big piece and put it out this fall. Stupid move IMO. But they still have time. And I think Adamance is right.
Meanwhile, I can spend my time with the sun and summer.
I'm gonna move to a remote town for a year after the summer, so I really hope they get their things together somewhere later this year, cuz I wanna play Dust while I'm there. Gonna have plenty of time for that :)
Hope they could at least fix the gun game, so we can have some fun pew pew while waiting for the juicy parts.
