I've only been playing this game for a little over a month and I like it because it's something different than call of duty, but I am seriously annoyed with how hard it is to get better quality weapons, suits, vehicles, and upgrades. I hate playing in matches when everone else can kill me almost instantly because everything they have is superior to everything I have. How do you expect to keep players interested and coming back to play this game, when new players are always getting slaughtered by the experienced players who have months of game time on their profile? Why should I have to wait a year or two just so I can have enough skill points to unlock everything which will then give me a fighting chance in this game? I think you guys need to give out skill points like you do ISK, which is by the thousands; or dramatically lower the cost to raise skill! If those ideas don't appeal to you then here is an idea for the developers who are greedy; how about you sell skill points on the playstation store, just like you sell AUR there. I hope you guys can come up with some solution to make this game better and more enjoyable. If not, then I guess I'll either stop playing or only play once a month becasue I'm not gonna be wasting my free time getting slaughtered in a game that is tailored to players who have the best of everything this game has to offer only because they have been playing this game the longest. I understand for every first person shooter game that you have to invest game time to get better quality items but the requirements for this game are ridiculous. |

It's what many of us are asking for: a better matchmaking system. You'll see that you won't feel the need to always get better gear if you'll be playing on the same playing field. The Academy does a great job of this as I felt perfectly competent with standard gear. But the new player experience still needs to be improved dramatically. If you're not outmatched then you won't feel like you need to grind SP for better equipment.
Edit: also there should NOT be an option to buy SP with real money. This will be teetering over the edge towards a pay-to-win scenario, which is CCP's goal NOT to make this game pay-to-win. |

It really isn't that hard at all, I can pawn a sniper with proto scout armor and a proto rifle with a default medic loadout. Just use better tactics or work as a group. Spend your SP wisely and only spec stuff you like...use an alt to test out weapons and gear. If you want to gain SP faster buy both a passive and active SP booster...you'd be amazed at the increase. The requirements are great for the game Dust is, a MMO FPS/RPG hybrid. Skill outweighs equipment just like in real life, don't try to go head to head with people using better gear than you. Sneak up on them, team up on them, use a vehicle, snipe them, whatever it takes. Would you try to go head to head with someone using an M4A1 with a M1 Garand? Probably not if you're smart, but you could flank them while a teammate distracts them and take them out. |

I know it might seem like it's the opponent's superior gear that beats you, but keep one thing in mind: Anyone using the top gear has also played for quite a while. This means, one must assume, that they have also acquired a solid knowledge of *how* to play the game. They know several sneaky tactics, can probably predict to some extent the most likely course of action a newer player might take. This is a lot more useful than just better gear.
I'm by no means among the most skilled Dust players, but have played for a few months. In mostly militia/standard gear with the odd advanced module sprinkled on, I often do decent in matches; top quarter of killboard with the first and second places every now and then. Not every time, but when I place worse, it's almost always because I've made the wrong choices in this particular match or due to the opponent being better at teamplay. Teamplay really is the one big thing that will consistently let you do better. Find a good corp with team oriented squadding and people willing to teach you tricks, and I guarantee you'll do better. |

Agree with the above posts. The thing is, with Dust your experiences increases tenfold when you play with a team that works together, a team that works together will nearly ALWAYS beat the team that does not. Now many choose not to squad up, preferring to work by themselves, (this is not entirely the player's fault, a chunk of it lies with CCP's for not mandating squads) so you must find as many as you can, and the best way is to find a Corp. Many people do not know this, but your Dropsuit Upgrades are the most important section of your skill tree. |

Standard gears takes like 2 games to unlock.
Hi-sec standard gear only IB, and low sec anything goes FW/PC.
Would drastically change the way this game is played, and I haven't heard many people speak against a system like this either.
Hopefully they release something close to that for Uprising 1.2. |

I see where this is intending to go, but my complaint with this is that I tend to only do pub matches (IB) since I'm on the more casual* side of things. Note: when I say casual, I don't mean clueless to game mechanics and loathing of squads. I mean that I am not going to pour time and energy into being part of a well oiled military structure. Limiting "the better gear" to only those in FW/PC is kind of insulting to those that just want to shoot people in the face after a long day of being yelled at at work.
Now, if I misunderstood the purpose of HiSec/Lowsec gear, please disregard the previous paragraph.
As to the OP's statement of real money for SP, Lord no. That would be the worst thing that could happen. Besides, we already have something close-ish to that now; buy boosters. You really should be if you want SP faster, anyway. |

It's funny because I've heard these arguments before on Eve Forums xD Just be glad those same skills don't take 30+ real time days to train a SINGLE skill lol |

My Eve characters are working on Amarr Carrier V at the moment, Command Ships V, and Light Missile Launchers V.
The last one is because I was sick of training 30+ day skills on that account.
Save me, please.
That being said, I am a couple of days from my next planned skill in Dust, and this time has gotten me thinking that it'd be nice to have a skill planner for Dust. Or at least something that allowed me to see how many SP I needed to get that skill that is two tiers above a skill I already have. |
