A game where it will take literally thousands of kills to unlock one thing, then another two thousand for the next, unless you pay real money, holy mother of grind...
**** that.
A game where it is faster to earn rewards by having two large blobs ignore each other and go in circles capturing points then actually duke it out.

I've sunk about 600 hours into PS2 hoping for those "amazing experiences" that rarely come unless you are in TeamSpeak3 with a bunch of other people and get lucky once a week or so, maybe twice, for an actual large battle that is NOT centered around The Crown.
But hey, I highly encourage everyone to download PS2 and try it out, take a good looooooooooooong look at their "leveling" system and how to unlock weapons, look at the free vs real money aspec, and then come back to me on how amazingballs PS2 is... After all, you have nothing to lose but some time... Go for it.

I know that there's a lot of criticism for PS2,but don't you guys actually think that it will have a bigger playerbase on console than PC?
I'm not saying that it's going to be the Dust killer or anything, but I expect it to do better than most of you guys expect, but then again, this is coming from a person that's never played the game,so what the hell do I know? |

Download it for free via steam or whatever and play it. I do expect it to do well due to being pretty and honestly always something to do and shoot, but I do expect PS2 to have a higher playerbase on console due to FPSes historically doing better on consoles then PC. Irregardless, it is a terrible game in the long run and not my cup of tea. |

Most people in dust complain about being "sniped" in DUST, yet sad thing is, even watching planetside two you can see that 85% of the time you are spending it sniping some jackass you can barely see, and have a dozen or three lunatics helping you snipe his dozen or three lunatic buddies. Almost never can you actually present anything but sniping gameplay unless you are directly inside a base which required twenty minutes to an hour of sniping siege before you actually get to that point.
Wow dude you sound alot like a IWS ps2 troll to me.
PS2 is amazing and will be even better with my corp joining the NC zerg. http://youtu.be/elze-GCWN5Y?t=1m20s |

Honestly,I would've tried it out a long time ago,but my PC can't run any games worth a crap.

I've seen the game and... while the Dreadnought Helmet has my intrigued, I'm not intrigued enough to want to commit a month's worth of playing to unlock one thing. Nor am I going to keep dropping money on a subscription fee for an FPS just so I can reduce that month to two weeks. In my 3-4 months of playing Dust I've unlocked advanced dropsuits, advanded and complex dropsuit modules, near advanced weapons and advanced equipment, and gotten the ISK to actually buy and fit multiples of those items, and all that without having spent a dime. You really can not say that about Planetside 2... at all. |

Not trying to joke or troll or anything here, but are you talking about PS2 or Dust there? Because really that sounds pretty similar to Dust's current state as well.

I played PS2 Back on the PC when it first came out / very late "Beta" and I enjoyed it quite a lot. Maps were huge, and I got into a few really epic battles. I thought it was an amazing game with real impact to what I was doing. For about a week.
When I logged back in one day, and saw that all the bases we had fought over for an entire evening were all back in Enemy hands, and I had only gotten like 2% to the way to the next gun... I just lost all my drive for the game. Death has 0 impact, and as a primarily infantry man I never felt like taking bases had any meaning aside from a nice little victory music of my race.
If you haven't played it yet, go ahead and give it a go, I think you'll see what I mean once you play it for a few weeks. Nothing feels... meaningful there. I mean the same argument could be made to DUST in many respects, but here when I earn money which I can, even as a relatively new player, say this buys me X suits. And I can save this up towards Y better suit, or I can gain SP at a rate in which I feel like I can get a better suit, or gun in a few days as opposed to the eternity it felt like in PS2.

I've watched a few utube vids of PS2,and yes, definitely pretty.
However, death seems to have no consequences whatsoever, and movement is 'cartoonish' for want of a better word. Like a cross between a marathon runner and bambi. No physics whatsoever.
I'm sure it would be fun for a short while, however i'm guessing it would wear off rather quickly and i'd be back wishing DUST had more to do.
The grinding wouldn't really bother me in the slightest though. |

It would be funny if that were true. Besides, 200-300 kills for a gaming session isn't uncommon. I've played PS2 for about 4-5 months now and I've pretty much unlocked every upgrade on every class and vehicle that I want, everything else is just window dressing. |

If it takes you 1000 kills to earn one new gun in DUST then you're doing something very wrong. We all know it takes less than a day to unlock a basic gun in DUST.
In PS2 it will literally take you over 1000 kills, but it's hard to get the kills because people just snipe each other like the OP said. You spend an hour just sitting in one spot because if you even move ten people will shoot you, but they can't move either or else ten people will shoot them. |
