Open it up, remove dust, apply high quality thermal paste, done.
Your PS3 is now immune from overheating. |

Your PS3 is now immune from overheating. and do you think a normal person is going to do all of that and not brake their ps3 It's obviously too difficult for you. It's okay, leave it to adults who know what they are doing. |

Your PS3 is now immune from overheating. Not true. It can still overheat it's just a temporary fix. Not true. It is permenant fix but you will need to know exactly how to do everything right when applying the paste. My 6 year PS3 is still going strong... never overheats, never even loud fan, and is only slightly warm to touch. Of course you need to keep it dust free. |

There is always a chance for the thermal paste to dry out. Also this is not something most people would do. Thermal paste don't dry out. I mean, you have to know which paste to use.
Yeah I suppose it is hard to get it right for most people. |

I should also mention - my PS3 sits inside a small fridge to keep it cool. |

hows mydriving whocares wrote:smoking hurts over time .. so does using the damn thing, which one do you think killed my ps3 first. and I would agree that if you done all your cleaning tasks you could keep it alive, I think I left mine to long before I built up the courage to open it, and replace the paste, when I did eventually replace it, I think the damage was all ready done, everything after that was just delaying the inevitable, still kept it going for 2 years, everyone in game had cones out there heads ( hot gpu) but it worked Smoking is really bad for the things around you because the smoke is actually tiny oil droplets and over time they build up a film of toxic sticky stuff covering everything that is exposed to the smoke. The inside of your PS3 is probably soaking up the smoke (plenty of surface area for all the little components) and the build up of smoke only accelerated the overhearing and aging of the circuit boards. |
