I just want to point out that the best armor rep does not do 2400 armor, but over 6000 armor compared to the shield booster that doesn't even do 2000. This is one of the biggest problems that's causing such a massive imbalance.
The way armor reps work: amount repaired per pulse is actually amount repaired per second throughout the active time of the armor rep (for a total of 15 seconds of reps to equal over 6000 for the best armor rep) Shield boosters: total of 5 pulses that each boost shield for one second with a two second pause.
In the end, armor reps and shield boosters are active for roughly the same amount of time, except that armor reps repair 3x as much.

Armor tanks can get taken out with 3-4 proto AV grenades, my Gunnlogi can get taken out by 4 shots from the proto assault forge gun.
Want to know the difference? AV grenades have range maybe up to 20m, while forge guns have range up to 300m. Also, blasters are most effective at taking out infantry. Missiles do crap splash damage and railguns are just worse for close range against infantry. You can avoid going through an alley filled with AV grenadiers, but you cannot avoid forge gunners as easily.
Both armor and shield tanks can get taken out by proto AV ridiculously fast, such that it is soloable. Advanced AV is still very painful.
But an armor tank will win any tank battle the majority of the time.
Also, Caldari HAVs are meant to be kings of AV while Gallente HAVs are meant to be kings of AI. Just look at their damn weapon systems: railguns and missiles for long ranged bombardment while blasters are for short ranged precision. Instead, we get Gallente HAVs that are kings of AI and AV and Caldari HAVs that are kings at being fireworks shows. |
