CCP, Mintchip, and other customer service devotees;
Thank you very much for your dedication and commitment to your customers. Thanks for your efforts to make this product the ground breaking, genre moving success that it has the potential to be.
Thank you for your patience in replying to the endless avalanche of hyperbole and grief that many posters fling in your general direction.
Despite appearances, not every player believes that Uprising, Dust514, or CCP are responsible for all the evil in the world let alone everything that is wrong with online gaming today.
You are doing a great job balancing a myriad of demands against a finite set of resources. I appreciate your efforts.
Whining, complaining Internet game forum diaspora;
Chill out already. |

As for lip-service, hmm. I'm typing this :P
CCP Mintchip // Twitter - @CCP_Mintchip Dust 514 Community Rep I understand your job is to plaster blue tags everywhere, but would it really hurt to put real information instead of well wishes in those posts? Pretty sure that's all I do... and my job is to actually design stuff. O_O So in other words I should put in my application to work for CCP as a designer because lets face it, an 10 year old can design a better FPS game than this garbage. BTW just in case you have not heard PC is Fu*ked up, how about starting from scratch and design something better. Are you a ten year old, Mr Stubbyducky? Is that your stated qualification for your verbal application to be a part of ccp's team? The fact that you act 10 and spew unconstructive crap at a gaming development staff on the Internet may or may not get you the position you are seeking.
You certainly don't have to take my advice regarding job seeking strategies but here it is (& not just for you but for all of us that continue to lose our patience and post mean unconstructive stuff to a team who are trying very hard to build something successful):
Relax.
Rome wasn't built in a day. Yes, dust has been in development for years. It takes years to build things like this.
If you are certain you can do it better, go do it
If you are sure this game sucks and is going no where, why are you still here?
If the answer is the potential, then try to post constructively. Make a positive impact. Not a negative one.
Believe me, I know the frustration. Been here a long while myself. Felt the pain from lack of info and clarity on ccp's part. But I want to be a voice of patience and reason amidst the rising din.
Change is not just coming soon...it has been happening all along.
Harden Up. Stand fast. Advise CCP of your feedback in a reasonable, informative and positive tone. Stop being mean....doesn't work. |

Chill out already. This. +1. If I were at CCP maybe I would have run out of patience already. Really? In a lot of companies there would have been a new management team put in if the whole thing not shut down based on how the last year has gone. The only reason this game hasn't been shitcanned is the trickle of money coming in as well as the war chest of money CCP made off of eve to subsidize this until it becomes a good source of income on it's own. For example, I used to oversee development of high frequency trading software for a trading firm in the US. I can assure you, if any dev team I worked with served up a Dust like product we'd have moved on quite quickly. Maybe we'd have stuck in there for a bit, but not for 14 months of these shenanigans. But- that's trading software, not a video game This is so true! I am a business owner and I can tell you that if any of my people created a product like this they would all be gone because at the end of the day I would be out of business eventually. CCP has to be feeling the heat on this project. From a business side it looks like a huge failure right now. They have been working on DUST for years and this is as far as they have gotten? Time, effort, resources, etc...for this? Wow... Oh my God. If I had a nickel for every time some neck beard wearing, basement dwelling, part-time CEO business finance major wanted to tell some computer game company ALL ABOUT making frickin' computer games....
What ever. I thank goodness that I do not have to respond to all of these arm-chair quarterback style business management posts in a professional manner like CCP. I would probably hire some popular Internet personality filled with smiles and glee just to avoid it.
Do you people berate every gas station owner and WalMart checkout clerk about how they run thier business too?
Just being a customer of a company does not give you any expectation that your rage induced whine posts (cleverly disguised as business savvy) should be well received or acted upon by people running that business.
Yah, yah....free Internet forum is free. Post your hate and delusioned solutions for all of CCPs shortcomings. I do honestly hope you feel better.
I actually do feel better telling you how I feel. Maybe that's the point |
