This is my opinion but I think this is what our community wants/needs, even if we don't know it ourselves.
Depth
As it stands, there is no real reason to participate in any of the game modes in Dust. Instant battles mean nothing and are there simply for grinding. FW is kinda connected to the Eve universe in that what we do DOES matter, but we really don't see any of that Dust side and trying to communicate with Eve players like this is one universe is damn near impossible. A lot of the older players pinned their hopes for Dust on PC, thinking is would be a highly competitive playground for corporate and alliance scale warfare and awesome metagame. But the issues with PC make it not fun at all. All in all, this lack of depth has many players asking themselves "whats the point" and if they are new "is it worth the grind?" At least subconsciously.
Content
This is tied into Depth but deserves it's own area. Right now, there isn't a lot of content. Sure, there are a lot of different skills and modules, but we are very aware of the lack of certain suits and vehicles that are not yet present in the game (though the game seems balanced around them). Also, the game modes are bland and repetitive, with the same small handful of maps per game mode (not to mention certain game modes being abused and therefor unplayable). Many players are left feeling like "is this it?" This leads me to another key issue.
Communication
We know the game has issues. You know the game has issues. Be we don't know that you know the game has issues and that you're actively working to fix these issues. Gamers view the world through a different lens than developers and so the time frames you work on when you are developing a game, things you consider "soonTM" are for us eternities. There are communiques coming out that you are indeed working on the issues that keep this game from shining, but 99% of players will never see these missives and mistakenly assume that no progress is being made. CCP, you're trying really hard and trying to let us know you're trying really hard, but... try harder.
Core Gameplay
This is actually the least of the issues. The core gameplay is kinda sloppy. Aim mechanics are sloppy, framerate drops constantly, there are a lot of bugs, balancing leaves something to be desired. But we had all these issues in Beta and people were still very hopeful about the game. People had fun.
?
Ok, I don't know where to put this, but another issue is the wide eyed promises you made before you released this game. This is a common flaw with game developers, they dream big, not practical. You infected us with these dreams of you're but the game is released and not only have we seen none of the awesome ideas you said would be in the game, but so much of the core content isn't here either. This hurts our collective feelings, in a subconscious way. A little voice in the back of our head keeps whispering "this isn't the game they promised us"
You know what the crazy thing is? It's the promise of what the game will become that is keeping most of us here when we could be so many other places (it's a competitive market). CCP, something in the dream you had for this game scratched an itch we didn't know we had. But no we know we have this itch and we need something more substantial than a dream to scratch it. Give us more meaning. Give us more impact. Persistence. Scale. Bigger battles. ISK on the line. Give us the game you dream of, and TELL US HOW LONG IT'S GOING TO TAKE!

I think they are trying to get the core right before adding all of the bells and whistles. The problem is the time it's taking to get the core right.
Hopefully they are able to get this own and some content added before its too late. |

I agree with pretty much everything you've said. I came to Dust from BF3 when the open beta launched, I was drawn in by the promise of "something different" and in that regard I have not been let down. It is indeed something different but not always in a good way!
I really love Dust and what Dust could be, right now the game has way too many flaws that need to be addressed and quickly! I am sticking with the game in the hope that the promises that were made will come good and that the game will evolve into a "game-changer" as far as FPS MMOs go. The game has so much potential and I don't want to see it wither and die because of bugs, glitches and such. New players will be drawn in by all that Dust has to offer and they will leave pretty quickly once they discover how bad the mechanics of the game are at the moment. |

We all know what's wrong and it's all been said a hundred times. We just have to hope that CCP are going to get it all fixed and out in a matter of weeks rather than months. |

I think people would feel more at ease if CCP did a simple post once a week and said "this week we are going to try to fix X" or something like that. What's the point in having Dev teams working on new stuff and telling us that new stuff is coming down the line when the game as it is needs serious work?
So you say that there are new maps coming? That's great now fix the nanite injector first |
