Again, people thinking Planetside 2 is good just makes me laugh.
Take it from an Alpha Tester guys: abandon ship.
If you want a great example of how not to develop a game post-release, go check their Roadmap section and look at how all the features that really matter have been "Unscheduled", while stuff like cosmetic items and other new stuff to buy roll out constantly.
As it stands right now, Dust 514 has more metagame than it looks like Planetside 2 ever will.
I'm not talking about AWOXing, before anyone tries to say that. I'm talking about how FW matches influence the capture status of the system you play them in, or PC has you not just attack but actually capture and hold Districts, and recieve (slight) income from them. Already we have some Corps setting up means of contracting them to come in and fight for you for a fee, acting as true mercenaries.
When my outfit, The Enclave, spends 4 hours successfully shitting on every other outfit on Mattherson, I sometimes stick around after we finish Ops and most of us log off.
Everything we have accomplished is gone in an hour with nothing to show for it. Even if SOE finally gets their asses in gear and release continent-locking and actual functioning warpgates, you still don't actually achieve anything in the game. Up until now, it didn't even deliver on the promise of large-scale fights. Without the lattice system, ever since launch you could find maybe one fight on those 2000 player continents while everyone else went to find an unoccupied base and ghost-cap it for the XP.
Oh, and I should also note that with the lattice patch came the Zealot Overdrive Engine for the Vanu Sovereignty MAX, which they ignored ALL player feedback on on their public test server, and released into the game in such an overpowered state that most Vanu players Certed into it and it was impossible to really fight them.
Imagine a Proto Sentinel with a Six Kin Assault HMG that can move and strafe like an Assault suit, and you get the idea.
So, am I worried about PS2 taking players from Dust while its still hemorrhaging players and is only still populated due to crazy people like myself and a constant influx of poor saps who think they might actually have fun?
Nope. |

J-Lewis wrote:PS2 was server merging pretty hard last I checked. That's not a good thing btw. Exactly. I can personally attest to the complete lack of fights that became more and more of an issue before each merge.
To put it into better perspective, I am not a Premium member, so I don't get queue priority for logging in, or for changing continents.
There was a period of maybe a week after each server merge where I would need to try and be on the continent we were going to be playing on before everyone started logging in so I wouldn't be stuck waiting for the queue.
The fact that it was only a week before the queue was no longer an issue each time is a very bad sign. |
