It's bad, and it's been getting worse over time.
We've been singing the tune for this for a while.
Granted, TQ came under DDoS attack the other day. Can't do anything about that of course... (Thanks to the hackers that pulled that off btw. Felt good to get away from this game's hold on me. If you can, an attack once per month is preferable.)
...but it is really bad now.
Every map pretty much has a City/Base structure in it. The ones that are the issue are the Ring Tower/Skyfire Cannon Base, the Gallente Base Map, and that last one that has 2 Tall Towers in it (someone help me out here).
Only Manus' Peak does not have this problem. It uses a set of simpler city layouts for it's center.
I highly recommend removing the 3 Problem City/Base Structures from the game until the optimization issues can be worked out. All too often, the FPS drops on these maps is what decides who wins the match, and it's very frustrating if the FPS decides it's your turn to lose.
On a number of occasions, I've also been dc'd from PSN, and totally kicked from the game. It's definitely Dust... Doesn't happen when I'm playing any other game, but it's not just me... Entire teams are getting kicked out of matches at a time. Half my squad and a few others were kicked out of match. I've also been on the other side, and have seen entire teams rip in half by disconnections mid-game. Then upon logging back in, you notice your chat channels didn't load, so you restart... Then when you log in your comms are bugged. These things aren't even scattered across the day; they are happening back-to-back. Wasn't like this when Uprising first started... it's getting worse.
It's really quite tiring.
TL;DR - The 3 City/Base Maps: The Ring Tower/Skyfire Cannon Base, The Gallente Base (Base with 2 seperate interiors), and the Twin Tower Base (Base with only 1 interior), are problem structures that lead to massive, game-breaking FPS loss. Take these out until improvements to optimization can be made, please, and consider replacing them with the simpler city structures being used on Manus' Peak to compensate.
Random disconnections are really game-breaking, and often cause domino-effect bugs: comms bug, chat channel loss, marketplace failing to load.

We have players all the time freeze during loading screens with the random disconnect, daily. We have members who experience the comms issue and are forced to restart multiple times in order to get it back. Two days ago I was up to 8 team chat Windows and 2 squad Windows before I hard crash. That was also with me restarting and turning off my ps3 to try and rid the glitch/bug.
If it wasn't for the fact that I enjoy playing with some of my Corp mates, I would have walked away from the game. Which is sad because I really like the concepts behind the game, I just wish things were smoother then they are currently. |

I found when I was playing on a patchy wifi connection in a hotel that after I had been disconnected I could no longer use a voice chat until I had rebooted my PS3.
I can only assume from this that when you DC it must leave a zombie port connected to the voice server and the only thing that will break the connection is to reboot and force the PS3 to initiate a brand new connection to the voice servers. This is probably one of the downsides to them not using the standard PSN voice and having to rely on a 3rd party in order to allow the voice chat to EVE pilots |
