Please forgive me if the proposal does not make a whole lot of sense first time through as I've never attempted to pitch an idea to a gaming company or community before.
Tyre Spikes.
The idea.
Commonly used by law enforcement to slow down and immobilize vehicles right?
What if this was a utility option for fast moving classes like Scout suit wearers. Instead of carrying around a drop uplink or nanohive, they could instead be armed with a defensive feature that could temporarily slow down enemy LAV's. Not to the point of permanently crippling them but forcing the driver to be a little bit more selective of where he charges into.
This ability would hopefully create more unit cohesion in terms of defence as a Scout would perhaps be able to create a choke point that a friendly heavy suit wearer or grenade user could take advantage of.
In terms of attack, it would mean the LAV would not be quite the loan wolf weapon of choice that it is just now. It may need a little more support when rushing into battle.
How would it work?
A little tricker, I'll admit but I was thinking along the lines of how the remote explosives work. The tyre spike module could be placed down and instead of being remotely detonated, they would instantly spawn the spikes and effect a designated radius. Say something like a 10 meter circle.
So a LAV entering this area would instantly be slowed down to say 25/50/75% speed depending on the level of item being used. Twenty five percent being the recruit level and 75% being the highest.
The tyre spikes themselves would not be invulnerable. Like remote explosives they could be spotted if close enough and destroyed by a few shots or well placed grenade. Additionally, they would suffer wear and tear if they managed to slow a vehicle and eventually be destroyed by over use.
Who and what would be affected?
In short, LAV's only (unless they add other wheeled vehicles in at some point). Tanks have heavy tracks that would essentially crush something like that and people on food would likely detect it in time to not walk all over it.

In summary, that's what I have so far. If you have any questions or feedback, post away. I'll do my best to answer and clarify if possible. |
