I've been playing for around a week now, I know I hold absolutely no clout, and i'm not really making any suggestions cause my knowledge is so limited, but here is what i'm seeing:
It's rough for new players. I'm sure it has always been pretty rough for new players. At first I thought a gear based tier system would be good for matchmaking, but I understand now that is not the solution. I don't know what the solution is. Regardless of that, the feeling I get right now is, __ out of every 10 matches I will be utterly worthless. __ out of every 10 matches I will be unable to kill ANYONE at all, __ out of 10 matches almost any weapon from almost any range will kill me in well under a second. Now i'm saying "__ out of 10" because based on the day, the time, and who all is on the same team as me, things do get better or worse. I've found the later it gets at night (i'm on Eastern Standard Time) the more stout the opposition. Also, with today being my first REAL Wednesday, I've found today particularly rough, as i'm guessing everyone is trying to cap out. I don't know how many noobs are AFKing, but if any are, I wanna say I can't blame them, even though I won't, and do not approve. I personally don't AFK (and I have the sh1tty stats to prove it lol). I'm not complaining. If this is what everyone goes through, then I should have to go through it as well. But when you're worried about adding new players and, more importantly, retaining new players, to say "yeah, you can't really do **** until you're a couple months in at least", that seems to be a pretty self destructive business model. Especially when your income counts on people saying "ok, I like and or enjoy this game, i'll throw down some cash" as opposed to "well I spent 60 bucks on the game, it sucks, moving on". Would you buy an oven from Sears if they told you that it wouldn't work right for 2 or 3 months? It'll turn on, you just can't cook anything with it. You'd go to Brandsmart and spend an extra 60 bucks to buy an oven you could use right then. I won't lie, I've vented (borderline complained lol) on a few posts here in the forum, but sometimes that's the only thing I am able to do. I am in it for the long haul good or bad, for now at least, and hopefully, sooner rather than later, I hit the point where i'm able to compete with seasoned, well equipped Dust members in meaningful battles. That being said, once I finally do become a seasoned, well equipped member of the Dust community, if my only options for battle are laggy, crappy PC battles (<---I know nothing at all of these ATM) or continually ass raping Rookies, i'm not sure I would want to play anymore. |
