Because I'm an optimist at heart. I can see the tremendous potential that Dust has once CCP nails down the basics, but therein lies the rub -- I have no idea if CCP Shanghai is working under the same Future Vision of EVE and Dust that was shown to us over 4 years ago.
It's painful to see any game in the shape that Dust finds itself in right now, especially one that showed so much promise. While the fun factor in Dust has experienced a nosedive, I don't wish to fall behind in sp anymore than I already have and so I continue to log in a few times a week in the hopes that CCP Shanghai gets their act together. No matter how much "potential" a game has, if you can't even get the foundation right, then it's still a failure. |

Nothing much else to play. Waiting on a few games to come out and killing time. This year's E3 is what I am looking forward to. If CCP is in E3 and show/talk what they plan on Dust 514 and I like it, then I will stay but if I see other games getting my attention then I will be less on Dust. To be honest, the only game that can win me over now is FFXIV but I am waiting to see what CCP does. |

I like high-health strafe shooters. I like hard scifi. I like the level of character customization. I like large scale team Battlefield-esque shooters. Despite the overwhelming amount of flaws and missing features, it is still pretty fun. A lot of it is also just emotional investment in the future of Dust. I want to see Dust achieve the things it promised me. |

The driving factor is the Eve tie-in.
Mechanically I like the longer TTK combat system and the fact that there are weapons other than generic ADS hitscan rifles that plagues the FPS genre. The balance is terrible and the content is currently lacking, but Eve has gotten consistently better from its release so I'm willing in invest time into Dust hoping it improves in the same way. |

What originally made me download the game two weeks ago was my past experiences with EVE. I love the sci fi setting and the universe they have created as a whole, along with the lore.
What keeps me playing are my experiences. The game is frustratingly fun ;-). I like how the combat is very fast paced. I like the idea of progression and differing gear and fits. I love driving around in tanks (although I think they are too easy to kill for the price).
I just got my caldari logistics suit last night. Running around that is fun....and since Im not very good at wtfpwning everyone, it give me a sense of accomplishment running around and rezzing people and repairing them.
I like Dust 514 because it has a lot of potential. It may not be as polished as something from EA or Activision, but I'd rather give my money to CCP than to these other companies. |

I don't play much any more.
TBH Dust 514 reminds me of what I thought when the first Halo came out. "An FPS on a console? Seriously? Ok, fine, let's try it..."
*wonky controls and sensitivity makes it next to impossible to shoot anything*
"Ok, this sucks, FPS is not made for a console and shouldn't be put on one".
Fast forward however many years it's been, FPSs on consoles took off with the halo series being so incredibly popular (I still have yet to figure out why), and now we are here, where everyone and their mother wants to make an FPS for the PS3 or 360. I played COD: MW on the console and have BF3 right now and play them every now and then, and they're pretty good. But still, I just don't get the point. FPSs are so much more fluid on the PC and aiming isn't a ******* trial in itself on the PC. I still can't aim that well on console FPSs (except for COD: MW because of its aim assist), and it's still insanely clunky and feels weird to me.
For the record, I was pretty damn good on FPSs on the PC back in the day. I've never been able to really reclaim that on the consoles... |
