There has been recent activity between many who consider themselves worthy of the title of Dropship King, yet no one has been able to prove it. This is a challenge to those that have chosen to remain going down the path of a pilot, to settle it once and for all.
If you or someone you know may be interested, please refer to this thread.
I announce the first ever air-to-air combat tournament.
10 positions will be available to be filled by pilots on a first come first serve basis.
Prize:
The winner will be awarded 50 Million ISK and the title of Dropship King
Qualification:
1. Must have a assault Dropship available which you must present before the 10 participants are finalized.
2. Must be in a corporation
2. Pay a 15 Million ISK fee to enter the tournament*
3. Make a 50 Million ISK deposit (includes fee) to host corporation.**
Rules***:
1.This tournament must have a minimum of 10 pilots for it to work.
2. To win you must be the last dropship standing.
3. Only one dropship (assault-variant only) per participant allowed to be called in throughout the entire match.
4. No mercenary kills allowed other than by Dropship
5. You may not call in a Dropship before the judges allow it.
6. You may not enter either redline during the duration of the battle.
7. No killing of non-participants.
8. Should the battle end before destruction of MCC, winner will be declared and defending force (non-participants) will capture remaining points while everyone waits for the end of the match.
9. If MCC is destroyed before winner is declared, prize will be divided by remaining pilots.
How it will work:
1. A voluntary corporation will host the match (must hold a district).
2. Participant's corporation must make deposit to hosting corporation to confirm spot.
3. A secondary voluntary corporation will attack hosting corporation through Planetary Conquest.
4. A timer will be set and used as the time the match will occur.
5. Chosen at random, the participants will be divided equally into both sides (5v5).
6. 2 judges will be present overseeing the match and announce when participants may begin calling in there Dropships.
7. 4 tankers will be included to remove active turrets.
8. One point will be captured by defending side to guarantee no loss of clones to host district.
8. When judges give the green light, participants will begin to call in there Dropships.
9. Each participant will then head to a designated located on the map.
10. After all participants all at their location, judges will initiate the start of the battle.
11. Judges will positioned at high points along the redline.
12. The battle will end either when one Dropship is left standing or MCC is destroyed.
13. Should the battle end before destruction of MCC, winner will be declared and defending force (non-participants) will capture remaining points while everyone waits for the end of the match.
14. If MCC is destroyed before winner is declared, prize will be divided by remaining pilots.
Disqualifications:
1. Failure to follow the rules will result in automatic disqualification and loss of deposit. (rules will be strictly enforced)
2. Any attempt to sabotage or change the conditions of the tournament will result in automatic disqualification and loss of deposit.
3. Failure to be present before the Warbage timer ends will result in disqualification.
4. If under technical difficult you are present but unable to join match you will still be allowed to join until judges declare start of battle. If you still cant join, you will be disqualified.
Notes:
This is simply a draft of the tournament and subject to changes as I receive input from everyone and begin to receive numbers. If i receive a huge number of participants, the fee might increase to due more battles having to occur.
The main reason its 5v5 is simply because of the vehicle deployment cap.
More information will be given for the qualifications of the roles of the corporations/non-participants as we get closer to the event.
Waiver and Release of liability:
In consideration of your desire to participate in this tournament, You assume all risks attendant thereto and, thus, hereby release, hold harmless and forever discharge the Corporations, Mercenaries, Sony, CCP, and each and every officer, agent, employee, duty authorized volunteer, and representative of each from all claims, causes of action, judgments, damages or demands, of any kind from or by yourself, heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, for personal injuries and property damage which you may cause or sustain during the event whether known or unknown, foreseen or unforeseen. You agree to indemnify and defend those stated before for liability arising from your tortuous acts or omissions. You further assume the risk of death or injury to yourself or to your property, in connection with your travel to and from the district holding the event.
*15 million fee explained and subject to change:
8 million/per participant to pay for the 80 Million ISK clone pack that attacking corp will use.
2 million/ participant to compensate loss of clones and participation of both corporations. (10 million/ per corp)
5 million/ participant for the 50 million ISK Prize.
**The 50 million deposit is for collateral to prevent any wrong doing, breaking of rules, or sabotage of any kind. 35 million will be reimbursed by the end of the week of the match unless stated by disqualifications.
*** Rules are subject to change as I receive feedback from the community. |

What do you mean skimming? The high isk for the deposit is simply to make sure we dont get any people trying to interfere and will be returned without worries should they play by the rules.
If you think 15 mill is too high I dont mind lowering it, but keep in mind that it can not go below 10 million to cover costs. Lowering it will also mean a lower reward. I wanted to make the reward worth while.
If the deposit is too high and you think that a lower one will still be effective to prevent wrongdoing, then I wouldnt mind lowering it either. Like I said, Its still a draft and willing to make changes as we get more people. |

I'm all for you hosting this, especially since I have no authority in Red Star or over an independent tourny, but please be careful what you say otherwise we're gonna get a rep for scamming just from rumors of "Red Star hosted a tourny, was trying get people to pay their way in and pocket the money" going around. To clarify, Snugglez told us he is hosting this himself, probably because of the fact that drop ship battles are a rare sight, and he felt this would be an enjoyable experience. You guys can adjust the deposit (NOT ENTRANCE FEE, you get it back after you participate and follow the rules regardless of victory or loss) according to what you can afford, but keep in mind he said the reward would be lower the lower the deposit is. Good luck to those who are going to participate ^ - ^ |

I would suggest that the judges all be recording the match. Aside from making sure nobody breaks the rules I expect it will be an entertaining watch.
As for taking the money and running, I'm sure Kane Spero Escrow Services could be used to prevent that. |

Im trying to find decent number to get the message across that it is not worth interfering with this potential tourney but still be affordable. I purposely chose a high number for that reason. I am willing to compromise, but again, nothing is set in stone. |

Yes, I did state that I will later go into detail as to what is expected of the non-participants. I do plan to have the video recorded but not worried about those details at the moment. |

I am very much interested in this. As a player who has been piloting ever since the E3 build, this has tickled my fancy if you will.
As a director for G I A N T, I offer our services in assisting this entertaining idea whether it be hosting the fight or in any other manner barring CookieStein saying no. Evil CEO! Jk Jk
If I am payed the cost of a dropship, I am also willing to call in a best-fit Python (Shield Drop Ship) for those who are not SP Privileged but are wishing to participate anyway.
Indeed there is an issue of the participating fee. Even I have troubles keeping around 15m due to my binge usage of Pythons and the hilarious ways I lose them.
There is also the issue of trusting people with the ISK. I would offer the services of G I A N T and myself for this part but again, the issue with trust. Hopefully this gets sorted out cleanly.
I do hope this takes off. I am really looking forward to seeing the different piloting techniques of those who also enjoy the drop ship as much as I do (and maybe even learn something myself).

Sad thing is because of how competitive I am I have been forced out of the fail of derpships ccp has moved too. And because of the ****** player base also they have turned into immobile piles of crap because they were to hard to fly for scrubs in precursor. |

If CCP would release an Assault version of their Aerial Assault Pack, I'd be willing to sponsor a pack to be used in the competition - this would reduce costs for participants and make it based on pure flying+shooting skill as all would use the same fitting. |

I appreciate the offer but the purpose is for participants to earn the title with their own fittings/skill points. If they do not have enough SP in Dropships then they probably shouldn't compete or declare the title. This is for dedicated pilots who have struggled to make something out of the Dropship. This tourney isnt just for the title but to show the community that nothing will keep us from conquering the air. And I hope CCP will acknowledge us. |

What I am saying though is that many times lag in PC make flying a dropship a nightmare. It seems to happen randomly and I can almost guarantee anyone experiencing this lag will lose. With such a high isk entrance fee I dont think it is worth the risk. Maybe once ccp fixes it though... |

Maybe split the winnings among who has the most kills and who survived. If it is just based on who survived it would be quite easy to fly at the ceiling and be unable to be hit. |

I actually like that idea, the only way I can think of for this to work is to require uplinks which will be placed evenly throughout the perimeter of the map... We wouldn't want people spawning in the same area and having drunk RDVs crashing into one another. |

I'm not really bout joing but i'd love to battle the winner of it. Dont wanna waste time on wanna be pilots. i fly almost every game i play. only other pilots i know at this very moment is Djin Goose and some other guy, forgot him name but there about the only 2 i've considered pilots. |

I see you have me on the list. If I am allowed to bring a millitant dropship I am in. I was fully speced into assault but used my reset to go back into tanks because the assault dropship sucked and could not be used as a effective team booster for PC matches. |
