Is it feasible or recommended at all to build a sniper based around what started off as a logi build?
I started off building a logi because I'd had fun with the whole support thing to start off but the novelty has started to wear.
The way I figure a logi build should be fairly well suited to playing a sniper role right? I have the minmatar logi suits unlocked to level 3 so I have equipment slots to set up a droplink and plenty of nanohives in an advantageous spot.
The only obvious downside I can think of is being totally screwed if someone comes after me and I have no sidearm. |

There may be some viable logi suit sniping roles.
If you read this guide, it may help a lot.
The Role of the Sniper
You can also find more sniping guides here.

Hope that helps. |

In my opinion, Logistics make the best Snipers. Gives you Ammo and an Uplink to utilize once you get into a good position to snipe. No Sidearm unless you are Amarr but you are probably hosed if someone get into close range combat anyway as a Pistol/SMG against an Assault Rifle will likely leave you dead.

Actually a skilled up SMG will go head to head with an Assault riffle. I run SMG as my primary weapon. Read SMG, Unlocking Versatility for more information.
If you go with a Logi suit for a Sniper build I would suggest you try to get the hang of melee combat. I have never had a melee kill myself, but I have been killed by melee many times. |

It can be done and its not bad. It does have some disadvantages but as long as you are aware of them and ok with it then go for it.
As has been said, you probably won't have a sidearm which could be bad if someone gets close. I use my flaylock just about every game fwiw.
You will also be slower and have a larger scan profile. This will hurt your stealth and make you easier to counter-snipe. Also it will take you longer to relocate which can end badly if you try to cover too much open ground.
Ultimately its a personal preference kind of thing. For me, the downside isn't offset by the upside for my playstyle but you may like it. Just be aware of what you are capable of while you are doing it. |

Well.
Level 5 Amarr Proto Logi.w/sidearm
3 X High Powered Modules-
-Complex damage Mod 10% stacking penalty= 24% +15% Snipe prof. level 5 and we have 44.6% -Complex damage Mod 10% -Complex damage Mod 10%
3 X Low Powered Modules-
-Complex Profile Dampener -25% stacking penalty = -45% +10% from Profile Dampening level 5 and we have -55% -Complex Profile Dampener -25% -Basic Armour Repair Just to take advantage of the Amarr bonus. When combined Armour repairs at 8 Hp/s
3 X Infantry equipment-
-Nanohive Its nice to have tons of ammo when your in really hard to get to spots. -Nanohive -Drop Uplink
Light Weapon-
-Ishokune The clips size of 5 is better IMO
Sidearm-
-Toxin SMG
Medium Grenade-
-Packed AV
This is how I'm rolling right now, but i have had the benefit of a rebuild and some help with a fitting spreadsheet. This set up will run you just short of 8 million Skill Points.
But i am the reason people wiggle back and forth in New Eden.
I religiously kill 10-20 people a round. sometimes up to 30 on a rare occasions.
I would say however... if you do not have the 5.26 million SP that you need to skill up to this drop suit then you should go with an Assault Medium frame

if you use a dropship, yea its the best thing for sniping. in fact.. scouts are probably the worse snipers and assaults are ok but logi is great if you get out of range of the ARs. |
