Good news is I'm no longer unemployed (only had three weeks left before my assistance ran out, so I'd been near-panicking with a wave of applications)...bad news is that I continue to disappoint on the blogging front. Getting a report written is my afternoon project tomorrow, thanks for your patience. o7 Congratz Hans. Jobs are good since they help facilitate New Eden ;) |

Kevall Longstride wrote:I know there has been some upheaval since the launch of Uprising with an EP leaving and a slew of rapid fire updates to fix issues with the game. But with the past experience of dealing with the CSM in Eve under their belt none of this should've effected the development of the mechanism that the CPM would operate under.
The fact that after six months we haven't even got a charter, never mind a system of election in place can only be blamed on CCP not stepping up to follow through what was said when the CPM was announced.
It has always been a concern to me that the ONLY form of insight into the workings of the CPM was in Heinrichs blogs. We've had nothing from CCP as to their discussions with the CPM. Such reports and acknowledgement of a working relationship happen all the time at the Eve end which of course is based in Reykjavik so it's only logical to assume that this failing is due to the Shanghai end of the operation.
But as Heinrich has stated they now have a growing management and community team in Shanghai but it's going to be a hard slog to get what is now a years work done in 6 months before scheduling elections for CPM 1.
The fact that this impasse has been reached is entirely the fault of CCP. As long term players we've read and heard the growing frustrations of the CPM regarding how little they have to report on the movement of various things such as the afore mentioned charter.
I will be reading this public statement from CCP very carefully. Unless the first paragraph clearly states what a complete screw up they've made with the CPM and its lack of a mandate, vision and co-operation with the CPM, we should consider that CCP don't take the CPM seriously.
If they do that, we have a chance. But a lot of work will be ahead and if they don't have time for elections maybe a second nominated CPM from a chosen short list or something similar should be considered.
I'd like to thank the members of the CPM for continuing to do their best in a situation clearly not of their making and urge CCP to get into gear. Well said, Kevall. And agreed. |

They posted what they wanted to say in the Internal forums. (The ones you guys can't see)
There's a chance it might be getting released today or tomorrow, but I hope to god not. The draft they showed us was utterly offensive (at least to me) and said none of the things we flat out told them we expected to see. It was generic and wishy-washy.
I (and I believe Hans) urged them not to post it without tweaking it, because it was an utter steaming pile. So... we'll see what comes of it. Thanks for giving it to us straight. Much appreciated.
Sad to say this, but i'm beginning to feel like you CPM peeps are babysitting CCP. i lols 'til i cries. |

Heinrich Jagerblitzen wrote:Its been the opposite - we went from a slow drip, to drinking from a firehose. I'll try to get a brief rundown of all the meetings we've had up shortly, even if they're devoid of all the commentary I embellished previous reports with. (otherwise it would be insane length, one I dont have time for.)
Stuff not going on is most certainly not the problem though. We're at almost a meeting a week (instead of one every couple of months) and half of the content of them has had to do with future planning, which makes them difficult to report on at this time. This isn't even including all the 1 vs 1 Skype calls I've had recently on top of the group meetings. Even some of the stuff that the CPM is encouraging CCP to think about isn't as easy as the stuff I've previously had no problem writing about, because its tied to plans that aren't finalized enough for anyone (us or CCP) to comment on yet.
I'm just overwhelmed atm, if you want to put this in simplest of terms. I hit a wall where I was sick of not having anything to talk about, now I have too much to talk about, and half of that I can't, and sorting it all out is a colossal migraine-inducing mess. It's a stressful (mostly in a good way) time for us right now, CCP Rouge is in Shanghai now and beginning to do his work.
That's what I've not been saying anything or promising new blogs, because I don't know how or when I'll be able to give you what I've given you before in terms of insight. I'll try to focus on getting just the bare bones sorted out and posted at least, so you can see we're not doing nothing at all, if nothing else.
Communication from CCP about the future will also likely disappointing for a while until much of this is sorted out, I won't sugarcoat that either. For CCP Rouge to successfully lead Dust in the right direction, a lot of major stuff will need to change (this shouldn't surprise anyone, we've been saying that for years). But CCP has also had a problem in the past of talking about future plans without doing due diligence about how long that will take, and the lack of realistic pespective has frustrated many in the community. The good news is that CCP Rouge gets that, and will likely not share his plans for Dust's future until they are solid and deliverable - the bad news is that its not going to happen as quickly as everyone is thirsty for.
That's great news, HJ, sounds promising all around. Many peeps on the forum have forgotten or don't know how aggressive a developer CCP is, because all they've seen from CCP so far is them digging themselves out of a hole of their own making.
As far as no instant gratification in terms of the new information you CPM peeps are getting, i will suppress my inner 3-year-old with a few solid beatings, and lay the moral burden for those beatings at the feet of the CPM. You monsters ;)
