Originally I called this the worst season, but OPM, Gundam, Bones, The Perfect Stranger, Yuru Yuri S3, Order is a Rabbit S2, and Utawarurumonu changed my mind. The three action shows, * Wars, Chivalry of a failed knight, and Anti-Magic Academy have ultimately been failures, and almost rip-offs of each other. It's a shame out of 3 attempts at a High school action show, we get another Magic Wars failures. Chivalry tried to stay interesting by involving a strong love element into the equation, really enticing fans to want to get to know them more as a couple rather then individuals, and that's good, because by themselves they both fail as characters. * Wars is much move beautifully animated, or high budgeted, and with a more interesting foreshadowing going on to greater things as schools make moves to out-wit one another, but it ultimately dwindles down to a basic hero saves the day formula because no one else can or will for whatever reasons. Thus making every good choice our no-brain hero make seem more heroic then it actually is. But then again, the rest of *Wars side cast is growing rather well, and it could be something better down the line. But Anti-Magic Academy is just a failure in too many levels to be taken seriously, even though it's backed by some gorgeous animation. But the foundation of the show is built upon the MC's relationship with the rest of the squad, and in almost every one of them there relationship feels so contrived and forced that everything the show does seems invalid for the attempt. The functions of the school weren't explained properly to even explain how inexperienced members can form a squad to function as a unit, and we're supposed to believe a chain of command exist when everything functions like a high school. It's just confusion, from top to to bottom.

It's becoming almost painful these days how predictable behaviors are, or how often times what actually happens is much worse. The need for a loli in every show, and the lack of any real seriousness. Shows fail to create tension and continues to bring you over a wall in expectations like Gurren Lagean did. A Lul in the Sea, Your Lie In April, Clannad, they didn't use some out there story or setting, but with beautiful visuals and animation and amazing character growth, you get the very essence of what I enjoy in anime. the recent formula of cute + MC = cha ching is getting old. Most relationships do not work like this, and a clearer line of realism would be appreciated. I'm not saying fantasy is wrong, but to flesh it out more, explain the mechanics behind your magic, science, and cultures. I want to like a show like Strike the Blood, but it gave such a shallow ***** explanation of the world and how it's different that I can't relate to events, and characters are treated similarly. Some of them, anyways. To Love Ru does a much better job in bringing life to there cast, and it's a stupid as ** show. It can do pretty much whatever it wants because it has a large cast of capable developed characters who are down for insanity, so you're always wondering what's going to happen in the next episode with so many serious characters and all of your understanding of them. That's a show done right. And anime seems to be forgetting this in favor of forced action scenes and melodrama, using cliched moments instead of being creative. The Comedy side of anime seems to get this, but the action is falling far behind. And we don't seem to be getting many romances lately.........

And it helps they're not cliche'd, but instead create there own cliche moments the series suffers from. You'll eventually get bored of hearing the same joke told a different way, of how country the country is, and it kinda irked me how easy they made life in the country seem, while in contrast Wolf Girl showed how hard it actually is. But my god is the scenery gorgeous. The use of shadows too, just sublime. Out of the three big moe shows, Order is a Rabbit, Yuru Yuri, and Non non B, NNB is definitely the most visually pleasing. But it doesn't actually separate itself from the others, it's the same tempo and beat, just different jokes. Yoru Yuri is the only moe show that takes it to the never level by making slice of life fun. The other shows just don't inspire anything other then moments of moe. They won't make you laugh, but they will make you smile, big. Lucky Star has better development then those shows, so that should also say something. Over-all, NNB - 7.5 OIAR - 8, characters are more interesting and a plot actually develops somewhat. Yuru Yuri - 9 A solid show in many levels, and it actually does have gorgeous animation, especially after season 2.

It's one of those shows I couldn't marathon, I had to go watch something else eventually to put some wind back into my sails. Problem is, these elements being added to the characters only get shown or has meaning in those moments. The cast will reunite, then go back to how they were, all development be damned. When you're show isn't that funny, relying on relaxing under-tones and moe, it's generally not a good thing that your series inspires sleep and relaxation when it spouts a joke every few moments. I'm too critical in this department of story telling to ignore how lazy NNB actually is, never daring to take development to the next level and give us an actual story. It's pretty episodic in comparison to Rabbit and YY, and it's strange because both of those shows are way more over the top. Did I mention how absolutely gorgeous NNB scenery is?

From the shittiest character creation I have EVER seen, to a incomplete setting, to crappy motivations, and even inconsistent animation, this show has strike after strike against it. But you know what? I still enjoyed it. So what the MC is single minded and his sister is one dimensional, so what is Chiaka is a walking doll whose probably hallow inside, and so what the rest of the cast is cut and copy replica's of any other show you could pick up and watch. IT WAS FUN DAMNIT! And isn't that what's important, sometimes? Every so often, maybe once in a while? The Dub to this show helps with the fun, but the Sub is infinitely better. And no, it's no longer a thing for Subs to be instantly better, these days Dubs have stepped it up majorly. I can name several shows, recent releases, that sound better in English. Wanna fight bout it? xD This wasn't one of 'em, though, but it was close. They just didn't change the VA's tone enough, they sounded too alike from other characters in other shows, kept bringing me out of the experience and I fondly remembered them. But back on story, Chiaka plot is actually pretty solid, it keeps you questioning what's going on, involving you in the story a lot further then you'd imagine from such a retold cast. But it comes together well, with the comedy moments bringing out the intensity of the drama as often as it makes you chuckle, it's just a smooth flowing show. This may actually be an example of how a good director can take a ****** story and characters and make something good out of it. I could say so much more, a lot happens in so few episodes, but I'll just stick with the over-all opinion: Twas fun, twas engaging, twas worth a watch. It's real strength is the mystery element of the show, gaining steam as the questions become more and more epic without changing what the question is. Great development, can't really say much more, lol.

To help the girls better prepare for life after campus protection. Does it make sense one guy is burdened with this? Nope. Do I care? Nope. I watched the Dub only so far, and only just for some background noise. It looked cute, had decent looking art, and seemed simple enough to follow. and it's all that, packaged well enough to grab my attention from my game to watch the show instead. The energy and enuthisasm is infective, and the progression and developments put a huge smile on my face. I really enjoy this show, not a bad character, and Blondie is rather interesting with how she switches back from girl in love with MC to a possible Yuri. And the part with the Yuru Yuri manga tickled the hell outta me :D

Me and a friend recently purchased AnimeGrinder.com, and before we release the forums we wanted to set up the website first. It'll be a bit basic and ugly at first, but we'll be recording reviews in different formats, official, staff made, or special reviews will be shared on it's own web page, complete with links and possibly even the stream itself. The more unofficial ones will be found in the forums, where comments and discussions can be more thorough. Of course the website will link back to any amateur reviews. The site will focus on news and events related to Anime, VN's, LN's, and Manga, and organizing reviews for people to not only find the show they're looking for, but a particular reviewer whose on point with your interest. In that regard, we'll eventually be designing our own profiles to help And if John is able or willing, I'd like to include our own chat, complete with video streaming to watch shows together.

Well then you'll be glad with Season 3. Mind you i've only watched 2 episodes of it, but if you've seen season 1 and 2, you'll definitely see how much better she's getting. That is, absolutely amazing to hear, lol. I sincerely just adore Workings cast. From the sword girl and the blonde guys relationship, to the store owner, even the MC is pretty awesome with how open he is about being a 'sort of' lolicon. Not too mention his family, the younger sister brings dimension and depth to the show. It was just that orange hair girl holding everyone back, and the show seemed to enjoy torturing me with her lol

It's not like it could go inside anyone of any strength and not be just as powerful. And to top it off, blondie getting arrested.... did no one, out of those 10,000+ people, see the guy fly a meter to jump kick her? Really? No one saw the guy fly half across the stage and yell at her while doing it? No one is able to record but the TV crews? Again, what the **?

Or think to the first episode of the third season when they asked about the other teammates for Mercury's team. You saw Cinder and Neo in disguises. Whereas Cinder was just wearing a different outfit, Neo had a complete appearance change including her hair, and eye color. So she was probably using illusions to maintain a different appearance. Why do I remember none of this? Yay for a reason to re-watch! I'm still iffy on choosing there best fighter with a failure rate chance. It may seem reasonable to you guys, but to me, it's like taking two different quality bulbs and deciding which to use on an outlet that may explode it. Both will light the room up, one will just do it better, so which do you take the chance with? If they tried it out, experimented putting it into another girl, it would of made more sense to me. They have the ability to do this whenever they want, why do they not test it on a loyal subject, rather then fire by trial with there best? The reasons they gave were going to be issues regardless if they put her at risk or not, so why risk it? And why would they expect panic from people who are used to being walled into cities for protection from monsters? How do they get food or supplies from within the city? We've seen it's landscape - there's no way it's self-sufficient. How is a world with so many threats so unprepared to handle them? And the world is not united, it's divided by four countries, who don't necessarily like each other. I think? This is the point in the story where I start to question the sanity of everyone living in it. And my skeptical nature tends to keep hitting me on the side of the head until I reason it out. If people are capable of doing Final Fantasy Advent Children moves with training, why aren't there more people trying? Does it make sense to anyone else that a modern day city operates functionally with Saurouns (Lord of the Ring, I suck at spelling names lol) forces constantly surrounding it, growing, adapting, and becoming more powerful? That bugs me. The choices bug me. It's like no one believes they're in a world that wants them dead. How long have they been in those cities?

Those are a dime a dozen, it's a almost a 'thing' for a decent anime to include christmas and use it to highlight or bring closer the relationships. And then it will be followed with a shrine visit for new years. You can almost pick any show with a Slice of Life element and be assured of a christmas episode. But the best ones are from Romances, like Clannad, Toradora, Romcom, etc, because they put more emphasis on the holiday and it's theme of togetherness.

If it's overwhelming, they don't need someone already beefed up, if it's just a complentary power, then yea, she is obviously the best pick. But it's being forced because the other half was stolen. So it's obvious why they wanted the best, but not obvious why they'd put her at risk with an untested device. If it can rip it out of one girl, it can do it to two, or 3, or 4. And one point confuses me, Red Head had a duel with that guy who Blondie beat, but the show was playing it like he could beat her whenever. But when he faced blondie, he wanted to win, and still lost. anyone else catch that?

Maybe we should start compiling them... lol, would take a while, we'd have to comb every show basically that isn't pre-teen shonen, since they wouldn't care about building a deeper relationship. Though Hunter x Hunter may be an exception to that. there's even OVA's dedicated as christmas episodes for some shows. Love Hina for sure has one.

People are not going to Boo louder then they cheer, so to get the best and loudest reaction possible, you'd want to give the best matches possible. So taking out a contestant with dirty tricks would mean less matches, less cheering. And the fact the Grim can hear what's going on concerns me - is City life really so quite? Has no one ever done anything before where a lot of people got together and just... partied? No loud music, nothing?

I also caught up on Noragami, and I just love this shows dynamic. It has slap stick, almost immature comedy, then just blows your mind with a moment dark enough for Elfen Lied. The contrast keeps everything fresh, but it's those dark moments that the show builds on it's dramatics, gives meaning to the plot, and let's the characters grow in a very natural way. Intense experiences changes us, but when we share those experiences, they bring us together in strong ways. But how would those experiences effect a person whose lived centuries? Between that aspect, the gods relationship with each other, the Reglia's relationship with... everyone, and throw in great romance, great fights, and a cast of great characters, a large cast, this show has everything going for it. It even has some nice twists. Heavy Objects I checked out: Another show that took me by surprised this season with just how good it was. It isn't mech vs mech, it's flesh v machine, and it's hilarious and interesting.

I really wish I took web design so I could help out. Web design isn't the problem, it's template and typing, lol. We only started inputting information yesterday after setting up the HTML's and plugins, so it'll look dry and empty, but if you click reviews, then any link besides Okamisan Fell asleep while doing it lol then you'll see the format in which reviews will be organized and shared, and we have several ideas to expand it further, we just want to finish filling in the list and make all the pages.

Sounds about what I do, and pretty much every other reviewer :) And we actually have a 'members' tab to place the better written forum reviews from people who don't take reviews seriously, however, you have quite a few reviews. In fact, you have a ton. That's part of why I'm okay with it, plus you word yourself better then I ever have. In the future as more serious reviewers join and things get crammed together, we may take you off your tab and put you with members, or you can take it seriously and go all the way with it. I'm leaving the choice up to you. I do? Sigh Alright, I'll check the site tomorrow, and if I have a tab I'll see if I can dig up my reviews. They may not make it from this site to anime grinder in-tact though. If you noticed I tried a bunch of different styles in my reviews before giving up, and just throwing a main premise at you, and then saying whether or not I recommend it. I may change my reviews so all of them follow the same style. Oh, and don't actually call me Yuri Detective. That was a joke. Please don't bring up trolls. I may start to act like one. I barely contain myself anyway. I literally got into two separate arguments today, and I was only half-trolling..... I'll make your tabs as you give me the content to put in, not every show will be covered by the same person, so I'm putting up tabs as needed.

I'm considering deleting the list we have right now Besides completed pages and just fill in the list as we collect reviews. It's a ton of work.

Had to use stream sites list. And they're all messy as hell. And it would be messy to add both Jap/Eng names, but I can't really decide if I want the Jap or English name then inside the link itself gives the other name with more info on the show. Making this list has just been a pain in my butt lol

Then when you go to it, you can see the alternate names for it (Romaji Japanese name, Japanese name with proper moonrunes, etc). Could you get it to show 'untranslated name/English name' on hover? I'll look into it.
