I've seen replies to comments on various threads such as "Go back to COD" blah blah blah.
You can't compare the two as the only thing in common is them both being FPS. And if that's reason to compare, why not compare DUST 514 to the thousands of other FPS Games?
So, I've come to this conclusion:
YOU CANT USE DUST 514 AND COD IN THE SAME SENTENCE, OR EVEN TOPIC |

To be fair, you kind of need to have some frame of reference for your statements, and you can only really use other games as examples. |

"Go back to Wow" is an extraordinary common phrases used in Eve Online. Its usually an indicator that this game niche complexity is not for the average player and for the player it is said to would likely benefit greatly going back to said game as the said game is most suited to their expectations.
So as Eve is to World of Warcraft as Dust 514 is to Call of Duty. |

Why did you explain this so nicely?
Waist of words, for if you don't understand why people say go back to cod or go back to wow, they are indeed the intended target for this reference and thus the endless cycle begins.

People do compare this to other FPS games so your argument falls apart, hell they compare it to other FPS games with skill systems so you cant use that as a defense either CCP exited the small pond of sci fi mmorpgs and stepped into the massive ocean that is fps games so its open season on them and stacked next to the competition they fall short and trust me its not due to how "complex" this game is, hell Ive played games 20 years ago that were more complex |

YOU CANT USE DUST 514 AND COD IN THE SAME SENTENCE, OR EVEN TOPIC I'm not comparing the two. I'm telling people that are comparing the two, and trying to say that Call of Duty has better elements of Dust, to go back to Call of Duty.
I'm the one telling people to go back to Call of Duty, and I mean it with every fiber of my being. We need more shooters that are NOT like Call of Duty. I was interested Medal of Honor: Warfighter, because you could be any of a ton of special operations groups, but then I saw the instant gratification things like XP popping up in the middle of the screen, and rewards for kill streaks. As such, I completely put any interest in the game to rest.
I'll say it again. To those comparing this to Call of Duty, and you say parts of it are better, feel free to biomass your account and go back to Call of Duty. MW3 and BO2 are out, go have fun gaming with people that have a bedtime curfew. |

Well there were complicated games that were extremely unfun like Romance of the three kingdoms for the NES and the like. |

A Link to the Past is more complex than Dust and thats just keeping strictly to video games without delving into tabletop The skill system is not complex its just poorly presented which is what gives people problems Fittings are not complex they are your basic equipment system from any rpgs but again its just poorly presented Gameplay is also not complex, its a throwback to the old arena shooter days of bunny hopping and circle strafing which while it does have a certain nostalgic charm the shooter genre has evolved past that Hell even COD which people like to decry offers a more tactical experience in the hardcore modes |

Ehh, the problem is that EVE is far farther away from World of Warcraft than DUST to Call of Duty. EVE has far less "game" than World of Warcraft (not a negative statement meant, just stating a fact) but miles more metagame aspect. EVE is more simulation than game.
Call of Duty and DUST are closer together. They both have similar game types, have the same goals, and are in the same genre. Call of Duty is far more of an Arcade-type game than DUST, meaning you can be casual and still be quite competent in matches, but they are still very damn close to each other.
But the reason why DUST is compared to Call of Duty is because of Call of Duty's popularity. Adding the fact they are in the same genre, you have natural comparison.
Be well. |

Actually, I can compare DUST to Call of Duty. It is easy. And a valid comparison.
DUST is similar to CoD in the way that there is a "rich just keep getting richer" mechanic in the game. |

I've seen plenty of people telling EVE players to go back to Farmville in space or referring to them as EVEtards, so what's your point? Link
hooc order wrote:Quote: When is CCP going to take Dust as seriously as EVE?
When EvE is not their bread and butter. May as well ask when microsoft is going to port Office to Linux. You do pose an interesting dynamic though. Often it is claimed that Dust is "great" because of its link to EvE. What you bring up points out that this very link makes Dust a horrible game and is unlikely to ever not be a horrible game. CCP can't upset their little farmville in space fairies now can they.

The only thing that COD has over Dust is a solid FPS rate and a solid aiming scheme, and i am talking about it played on the PC, the rest it has is meh super easy gunplay where actual player skills don't matter.
Though for once idd like to play dust with 100% actual skill and not confined by its artificial crappy control methods that keeps telling me i can't aim for crap while in APB R i land shots with 90+ accuracy all night long. |

Another thing I wanted to point out. Why is it that when everyone else that plays different FPS games, they learn to adapt to that games parameters while CoD players complain that said FPS isn't enough like CoD? |
