I've heard that weapons that have Splash and Direct damage will deal both on a direct hit, but is that true?
As you can see in this Pic :

Black Art has a direct line of fire to his target. his target is wearing a gallente proto suit with 171 shields and 297 armor (which is awful BTW)

this is after the first shot lands. The target lost 167 shields and survived with 4 HP. now, I can't really tell if the efficiency rating says 70 or 78%, but that kind of damage implies that it was either:
A direct hit, 239.8 x .70 = 167.66
Or a Proficiency 3 - 4 splash hit, 163.6 - 168.168
The next shot proceeded take out his remaining 4 shields and 297 armor.
Based on the pictures, that was almost certainly a direct hit, but if what people say about direct splash damage is true, then that should have easily resulted in a 1-shot kill... it did not. Could anyone with experince with such weapons confirm or deny whether the two damage types stack? Also, Black Art, if you see this, could you share what proficiency level you had at the time of this video? |

That was after the respec, so I only have Flaylock Pistol Operation 5. No proficiency or damage mods. |

I have heard that before in reference to vehicle damage from swarms but never seen any evidence of it.
In my opinion, splash damage should be applied to enemies within splash radius of the target that took the direct hit, but only direct damage should apply to that target, and depending on the balancing of the weapon it should be high enough reward for the difficulty in landing direct hits, so for example the mass drivers arched trajectory could give a higher bonus to direct hits the further the range and the low arched flaylock would have the small bonus it already has for direct over splash damage. |

I'm pretty sure that the size of the target determines how much damage they take, and how much of their hitbox is engulfed in the blast. A COM shot will do more than a headshot, for example.... unless it has a headshot modifier. |
