Dose the Amarr medium frame or the scrambler rifle seem to be very suckish? I have proto assault and scrambler rifle and I regret every decision I made getting them.
Here are so pro's and con's i put together about my experience useing the suit.
Pro's *somewhat good at tanking. *reduces the overheat of weapons that can overheat.
Con's
*Very slow. *very few slots. *lower pg/cpu (due to slots) *did I mention they are ungodly slow.
As for the scrambler rifle i put together some pro's and con's aswell.
Pro's *good vs. shields
Con's
*short range *over heat screws you over (unless you are using the assault scrambler with proto lvl Amarr assault suits) *optimal range is garbage. *Strangely, the assault scrambler rifle has a large amount of recoil.

I'd stick with the assault scrambler rifle. That things a beast! Not OP.. Just good...
As for the Amarr medium.. It's ok. I think the Caldari is the best cuz shields but.. I personally like Gallente cuz i love armor tanking.
Edit: the real downside of the Amarr is, as you mentioned, the speed.. Only thing i can tell you is upgrade your biotic skills |

Scrambler Rifle needs a bit of a range buff, (which I think it's supposed be getting soon,) but if you're overheating, you're using it wrong. The regular one isn't really meant to be used like a regular tac AR-- the main draw for it is in the charge shot. One fully charged shot and two quick ones is enough to kill or very nearly kill most people, without overheating. And I don't even use Amarr suits.

Lemme put this into perspective for you.
I dropped a 7m SP toon who was using this gear, full amarr set up, just because he didn't have the Amarr Assault avatar.....that's how good this combo is.
In all honest the SCR and Amarr Assault are a decent combo, good against shield tankers, tanking lots of damage, and being an independent and useful part of any squad.
However you are right. The suit is slow, it doesn't do well against shield.
However this is where the SCR comes in really useful. SCR, both varients, are rather situational weapons, normal SCR being great for mid to long range encounter and well backed up with an SMG for close quarters, while the Assault Varient is very weak at range and really is what I would call a room sweeper.
Both however really come into their own in a fire fight where you are able to support another player. Because of the boosted damage against shields you can rip away defences while you allied finish them off, and due to pretty decent RoF (despite overheat) you tend to be able to out shoot your enemies in most scenarios.
Howver like Marauder said, the AR is pretty much good for anything. |

He is correct, one charge shot and three or four regular will finish off most mercs, maybe not heavies. |

True but you don't even need the Charge for most engagements. Your optimal range is slightly further than that of the AR, which means you get great accuracy up and over what AR users get, excepting the TAC. that is what makes the Imperial or standard SCR a golden idol of a weapon.. |
