Last weekend EVE experienced its longest downtime in quite a while and as a result CCP has decided to give everyone 50.000 unallocated skill points. The cause of the downtime was a malicious attack on our servers but nevertheless we want to make sure that all our players walk away with uninterrepted skill training plans. The skill points will be issued only to players with fully active EVE Online accounts. Players who are on a trial account have been gifted an extra 7 days to their trial time.
You can read more about the incident in this statement by our Chief Operating Officer, CCP Spielmann. A friendly reminder if you hear of someone doing or planning something bad, even if itGÇÖs your friend, we do have the PLEX for snitches program.
The skill points were distributed during today's deployment of EVE Online: Odyssey and all active accounts were eligible, barring trial accounts.
This is the second time in the last two weeks that we've resorted to giving out 50.000 skill points due to technical issues so as a result some players may find they have 100.000 unallocated skill points in their skill point pool. Spend them wisely and make sure to check out this recent devblog if you are going to put them into ship skills.
HereGÇÖs a quick guide on how to apply these skillpoints to a skill of your choice.

They have already said both Eve and DUST players will be compensated ... Eve got it becayse the syatem is in place to dish out sp for these kinds of things.
I imagine someone has to write a script to do it in DUST, and they're probably a bit busy dealing with all the QQ about the "isk gate" scandal ! |

To be fair, I am not sure if they lost anything either. I believe the Skill Progression keeps ticking regardless if the servers are up or not. The only way you could have lost something is if your training queue ended before the servers came back up or if the system crashed when you were in the middle of an installation and lost your ship, which would suck horribly.
Both people lost the same thing: time being able to play their game. Hell, I wonder if people were unable to cap out last week because of the downtime (IE, only weekends free to play). |

Clearly another person who has zero technical understanding of distributed computer systems or network infrastructure. I very much doubt any servers went down more that the load balancers etc. were the ones taking the brunt of the attack and it was probably those that actually were actually "taken down" hence loss of connection to the backend.
I'm pretty sure the core infrastructure and the processes dealing with your precious passive SP were chugging away nicely. |

The differences in Eve and DUST sp gain actually cause more sp loss in DUST ... Eve has just passive gain so the only loss was to those whose skill queue finished and couldn't get on to activate a new one. Compensating this is most fairly done by distributing a days worth of sp to everyone.
DUST however includes active gain, so many people will have missed the chance to earn significant amounts of sp, as someone said weekend only players lost 1 of 2 days.
Either way they said we'd be compensated too, so just wait. |

yep although I'm pretty sure the sp passive wasn't going up as well, at least that's what I hear.
the active sp is more waht I was thinking, I know lots of people who susually cap on the weekend that could cap because of this.
again I don't really care, just saying the sp was not being gained during this down period in one form or another |

Why did it take this long for anyone to mention active SP? Also, active boosters which people bought.
I don't even want compensation but that seemed obvious to me as a response to "we haven't lost anything." |

I think since those are basically all paying customers, giving them a bonus isn't a slight to us in the least.
Maybe in the future CCP will have a way of dividing out paying customers on Dust514 from F2P - maybe with a premium tag or some crap so that when something like this interferes with playtime we can be compensated in a way, but considering the SNAFU induring the respec I don't really expect them to make an attempt to do so. |

I don't give a crap if we all lost the OPPORTUNITY to earn SP... it happened to everyone, nobody fell behind, and the only type of compensation that might be needed if it is needed at all is to make sure boosters time limits are extended by the outage periods... as they are paid for.

Free game without a subscription loss of service means imo you gets nothing. CCP said dust will be getting something lucky i wasn't making the decision because these try hards wouldn't get anything. Just a cookie maybe with milk. |

You do realize that EVE players can pay with in game isk. So EVE is just as much F2P as dust is P2P |

Well, not exactly. It's not like you can afford that until you have some massive income on the go. There is also risk involved if you try to transport plex around. |
