I assumed the same as most people here (that it housed the PSU for the dropsuit).
However, if we ever get different ammo types, we'll need somewhere to carry that extra ammo. |

However, if we ever get different ammo types, we'll need somewhere to carry that extra ammo. For pure immersion, when someone is shot in the backpack their entire suit should shut down I would prefer a glorious explosion... Power Rangers style.
Getting a "body shot" on the PSU should simply shut it down.
Getting a "head shot" on the PSU should give the glorious fireworks and the +50 |

Nah, I'd assume if the power supply was just shut down, you'd lose your shields, all of your mods would stop working and you would lose 75% of your speed (hard to move that bulky ass suit you're totally encased in without the help of the internal servos). I could also see it being a lesser movement penalty if you were in a scout suit (which I assume is more akin to a wetsuit with some light armor plating).
So, technically you are correct, though because of the fact that your battlefield efficacy would be near 0 from the lack of power in your powered dropsuit (not because of a catastrophic failure, though it would be cool if there was a small % chance of that too). |
