Possible with KB/M. Not possible with DS3.
The issue isn't whether or not sprint strafing should be possible... DS3 should be able to perform the same abilities as KB/M, and vice versa. |

??
It works fine for me, you just push slightly to the side of the stick. |

Nick's correct. Works fine on DS3.
From straight forward position, click sprint while angling stick at 45 degrees left or right.
Simply put, you can now sprint at 12:00, 10:30 and 1:30 positions.

It's helpful if you want to see what an enemy is doing while not going straight at him.
Maybe it's your controller that is causing issues, try a different DS3. |

It may be possible that strafe-running on KB enables you to run faster than controller.
It may be the same issue as with tanks veering left or right on a road. (Meaning, with KB you have always full throttle and when pressing to the side, you also turn. On controller, if you move the stick even the slightest to the side, you are releasing a bit on throttle. That is unless you somehow have a square stick base instead of a round one.)
Can't comment yet if KB run-strafing actually gives faster running speed than simply running forward, alto it feels like it but that may be a visual distrortion. |

- Shotty GoBang With KB/M all you have to do is press a strafe button (a, d) along with the forward button (w) and you're sprinting sideways. With the DS3, if you accidentally push too far (i.e. 10:00, 2:00) all of a sudden you aren't sprinting anymore. This puts DS3 scout players at a huge disadvantage since we rely so heavily on speed and momentum. |

You can sprint using the DS3.
It's just sloppy, unresponsive, and flaky. It's usefulness is crippled by it's poor implementation, and hamstrung by sluggish response times and lack of meaningful feedback. |

What it is is the fact that the KBM has the ability to switch between strafing and a running strafe much faster than those of us on the DS3. That is because of the separation of the keys on the keyboard while the DS3 requires the integrated use of one control struck attached to a button (mind you that it doesn't always work just for sprinting, let aloe during the feeble attempts of strafing while running, WHILE using a DS3 controller).
The KBM has the upper hand here.
I can tell when I am playing against those on KBM, because their strafe running snaps back and forth from one direction of movement to the opposite direction like a person flipping on a light switch as you enter in a room and then decide to flicker it by flipping it on and off repeatedly in succession. |
