is there any chance of getting another batch of respecs processed during this downtime? or is this an all-hands-on EVE patch? not sure if DUST crews have to do anything for EVE deployments, so figured id ask the question |

Carolyn Sicling wrote:Did CCP really only give Dust players 1 hour 18 minutes notice that they were going to extend downtime in this way?
Seriously, I expected the downtime to mirror Eve's, but when there was nothing in the forums last night at just before midnight I sort of hoped.... clearly not!
CCP - you guys really do need to work on your communications skills. For years Eve players have been telling you this, and now that you're venturing into the console market, you simpy can't afford to make basic errors like this.
On a lighter note - I am loving Dust 514, although it's still really only a Beta considering the number of bugs and amount of balancing needed, but it clearly has huge potential, so keep working hard at it.
they can get away with it 'SOMETIMES' because many US players are at work or going to school, most euro players with a day job are also at work, the only crowd who usually gets hit by downtime are the pacific players(regular downtime was at like 6pm okinawa-time) and people who work 2nd or 3rd shifts, which i cant imagine being a major demographic of online communities
though yes, even just a heads up, 'Odyssey deployment tommorow, expect extended downtime, exact times to be decided' would generally be less of a frustration.
though if you look at ANY of the other 'extended downtime' announcements, almost all of them are only 2-4 hours prior. kind of frustrating when ive been waiting for news of a respec, and i dont normally get to read the announcements till after its happened |

DJINN leukoplast wrote:Is there some reason why this update had to start 3 hours before the regular DT?
The players are already a day short due to all of Sunday being down, then you cut the server time short by 3 hours the day after you get the servers running again? I still haven't capped yet, and still haven't met the Templar quota.
Now due to this, I am not going to make my cap by tomorrow night, and I also missed out on the Templar rewards all because of some EVE update which for some strange reason, had to start 3 hours before the regular DT.
you gotta keep in mind their work shifts, if they started at 1100 and spent the following 5 hours launching, it would be close to regular close of business and the main programmers(which i assume all work the first shift) would end up spending overtime to fix any unexpected *FEATURES* that crop up with the launch. it makes sense why they would do it this way.
and if you were relying on the last 3 hours of a 72hour event to acquire your rewards, i am liable to blame operator error rather than producer or product defect. |

nobody until they get the economies linked, and then eventually open up industry. from the econ lecture at fanfest, it looks like meaningful EVE-DUST connection is AGES away. |

You meant the "Partial " Respec ( Lots of people haven't got it yet ) and the "Lottery" Templar Event. ( Good luck Finding one, and then try to killed, with another 5 guys aiming at the same guy ).
as of today, it is 3 weeks since i filed for my respec...
as for servers coming back online, regular downtime ends at 1130? this one ends at 1350 i thought, so no, not regularly scheduled end of down time. |

its been a month since we got uprising... and theyve been doing some minor balancing as well as the templar event. i remember when TQ only got fixes and changes at patch times, once every 6 months or so... |

Uprising came with lots of bad, so it is generally not good. And times are a bit different people expect faster delivery.
entitled much? EXPECT faster delivery from a company whos new to this... uprising screwed the pooch, and id rather they fix the broken stuff and NOT release new content than just pile on more broken features... |

So Dust 514 have no business been in the PS3. It should be in the PC, as an "add on" for EvE online, and a part of the monthly subscription you guys pay every month.
If DUST had launched for PC, so much rage would have happened. Riots in jita all over again. it would have been worse than being force fed captains quarters... |

to be honest its there games they can do updates when ever they want they try to make it better for everyone.
they could just close it down for good and say f*ck you all we are not doing it anymore but they haven't
but i haven't got to play waaa who cares go outside read a book watch a film its not the end of the world and i really doubt any of you know how hard it is to make a game like this in fact i challenge anyone to make a game as good if not better then EVE and Dust 514
so just shut up stop whining and wait for the server to come back online and for god sake show some respect You see.. the problem is: That EvE players are getting even more cool things for their game, when in the other hand "us" Dust 514 players, are not getting even basic game fixes... and we still playing a half finish, half broken game... THAT is going to **** people off... alot.
i havent been keeping track of my EVE patches, but they havent had anything significant since DECEMBER.
http://community.eveonline.com/news/patch-notes/patch-notes-for-retribution-1
theres been 2 small patches with various fixes since then. one of them was about 2 weeks ago, and the otherone was the patch that hit with uprising, which didnt impact MOST of the playerbase, with PC only being limited to a SINGLE region.
they got cool stuff today because theyve been waiting 6 months, we got cool stuff last month, and its not time for anything major to happen for a while aside from small batches of fixes. which they are working on
also the crew working on EVE content doesnt generally work on DUST, as far as i am aware, its effectively two separate teams and they each manage their own workloads and features. EVE getting content doesnt degrade from DUST getting content in any significant fashion. the big bad internet spaceship subscribers arent stealing your FREE content. |

i dont remember them ever enabling the MCC Commander role, it wasnt enabled in the original fanfest build, or the one after that, when they took away dumbfire swarms ... god the swarms... |
